🗓 25 Years Ago Today 🗓

On February 10, 1996 the IBM computer “Deep Blue” becomes the first machine to beat reigning world chess champion, Garry Kasparov.

At the time, Garry was widely considered to be one of the best players of all time. Most people following the 6 game contest in Philadelphia expected him to win. Remember, at the time, computer technology was only taking off for the mainstream population; only 35% of US households had computers at the time as they became more affordable.

After the initial loss on Feb 10, Garry managed to win the series 4-2. However, he later lost to an upgraded machine 3.5 to 2.5 in a 6 game match in 1997.

The events changed the game of chess forever, as well as our awareness and understanding of computers capabilities and the emergence of artificial intelligence.

Happy Friday! 🎉

Here is another fun and simple twist on the classic game, Tic-tac-toe!

By adding some ping pong 🏓 skills you make the game more skill based and can easily be a party game! 🍻

Via:

1) Simply tape or adhere red solo cups to a door or wall. If you have a door that already has a grid (like this video), even easier!

2) Decide on a distance to play from, and take turns hitting the balls into the cups.

3) Just like Tic-Tac-Toe, the first to connect 3 cups (horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines) wins the game!
