Out here at 9 pm on a Tuesday looking like a bomb went off in my room, taking pictures of and measuring 👗 🧥 👚 and 🏺, still in my office clothes, trying on what might be (I think?) the first vintage piece I've purchased for myself in the last decade and verifying I'm going to keep it. Feeling C.C. from The Nanny vibes wouldn't change a thing!

Even when sisters have different "aesthetics", they can still share closets... sometimes. The fashion trending in the vintage world has me reminiscing back to some of the iconic looks of the late 90s/early 00s teenage rom com scene. What a time to be a live. I pulled together pieces from my vintage and current inventory to create outfits for the Kats and Biancas of the world. All will be on site later this week but DM to purchase now! Today is as good a day as ever to post a final "reveal" of the Buy Nothing table and Goodwill chairs I refinished for outdoor use in my garden. All were used last night for their inaugural dinner, a BBQ with friends, and tonight I'm having my family over for BBQ 2.0. This was the biggest and most involved project I've ever taken on. Learned a lot (merci, Google and YouTube), and admittedly while I wanted to abandon the project at various points, I am very happy I saw it through. Scroll through to see before and after of the patio, table, and chairs!

DO: be prepared to spend -- on good products and tools (especially brushes), make sure you are using the correct materials and combination of materials (ex. acrylic v latex paint, what varnish can go on top certain paint or stain), read all the labels and instructions ahead of starting (pay attention to recommended dry times), check the weather forecast for rain/humidity (humidity is going to make drying take longer and rain will ruin things if coats are not dry and get wet), use paint/varnish stripper (still need to sand, however this will save a lot of time)

DON'T: RUSH, default to whatever material supplies to you have on hand (especially paint) without checking if it's the right material for the job, glob paint on to try and fix imperfections/uneven spots (sand, sand, sand!), use the same grade of sanding material for everything (depending on how much sanding is required, you should gradually use higher and higher grades or you are going to create more work for yourself), expect perfection (there is a reason professionals charge what they do, it really is an art and takes years of experience to really master the craft)

About 10 years ago, I picked up a pretty Caribbean Blue ceramic Pyrex butter dish at a garage sale. I think it was $2, but another shopper told me, "Oh, mad I missed that! You know it's a collector's item, right? You could resell it and make money". At the time, I kind of shrugged and was simple to happy to have scored a butter dish (which I needed) for $2. Fast forward to now, when I'm more "in the weeds" on vintage collectibles (lol)---I see so much Pyrex content from other re-sellers, vintage finders, and collectors on Instagram, TikTok, and more! It's usually pretty easy to spot, especially the bright hues of the primary color nesting mixing bowls, which are very popular. I do not have a complete set to offer (yet!) but the pieces I do have are great for someone building a set or hey, someone just looking for pretty ceramic mixing bowls to spice up their cabinets!

First question --- have you joined your local Buy Nothing Group? If not, do it! First picture is a Rubbermaid outdoor storage shed I picked up off Buy Nothing. Not going to sugarcoat, kinddddd of a pain to take apart...transport...then put back together... however, at nearly $700, worth the pain. As I have built out my patio area/garden, I've definitely accumulated outdoor tools, equipment, etc and now I have a safe place to storm them that's (relatively) waterproof and can fit larger items. The other items are all trash picks! Living in the city, trash day (particularly towards end of month when leases are ending) can a veritable treasure "buffet". I used the fencing and added some other scrap wood to create shelves (and purchased two $2 wood organizers from Goodwill) and created a standing vertical garden for my smaller pots. The two tables I picked up today and plan to refinish (and sell, perhaps?). The indoor/outdoor rug is like new and only needs a hose down/light scrub before I will post it to my local BST (where recently lots of folks have been looking for outdoor furniture/accessories!). In summary, the second hand space includes a lot of channels and Buy Nothing and "trash" are very much a part of it. Trash pickin' not for everyone, but Buy Nothing groups are an excellent way to keep things out of landfills and participate as much or as little as you desire. Try something new!

If you have told me 10 years ago I'd be spending a summer Saturday as a VENDOR at a flea market...well, TBH, I'm not even sure what my reaction would have been....does it matter, though? Flying high after my first experience as a vendor at the Phila Flea at Broad and Passyunk this past Saturday. Despite rain and very so so weather overall, turn out was pretty good. Met a lot of new people, learned a lot, gained some followers, and overall... enjoyed myself! Loved having friends and friends stop by to say hi (and buy!) and my mom in the tent most of the day to keep me company. Grateful I can pursue what has always been a hobby as full fledged professional activity. Can't wait for my next Saturday (or Sunday) tablein' at a flea somewhere on the East Coast!
