If you’re renting bikes to take on the Little Traverse Wheelway this summer, keep in mind that the approach to Charlevoix is blocked by a washout in the boardwalk without a recommended detour. The rest of the path is navigable, and we are happy to make recommendations on how to make the most of your day!

For those who choose to use the U.S. 31 road shoulder to connect with the Little Traverse Wheelway west of the Miracle Mile washout, here is an update. (This detour is not recommended for children, those who aren't used to road riding, or those who are unsteady on their bicycles.)

The City of Petoskey has received an MDOT permit for the placement of the U.S. 31 delineator posts and are planning on installation this week. However, MDOT is going to improve the rumble strips at Eppler Road, so post installation will occur in two phases. The first phase will be west of Eppler, where MDOT is not doing any work. This will happen this week. The second phase will occur after MDOT has completed their work, with anticipated completion in mid-June.

Regarding a workaround for the Wheelway's closed boardwalk section in Charlevoix County, trail users should AVOID using the U.S. 31 road shoulder to connect. With a rumble strip on the outside and a long guardrail on the inside, this mile-long segment of road shoulder is narrow and extremely dangerous.

Congratulations to our friends at Nubs Nob for winning the Conversion Cup! What we love most about our partnership is that it allows us to be a part of the human-centric approach to skiing and skiers. So proud of their team for all that they do to promote the sport!

It was a big night at the conference 💥

Last night Nub’s Nob won the Conversion Cup at the National Ski Areas Association’s conference in Carlsbad, CA. We are the first Midwest Ski Area to win this award for getting first-timers on the slope.

NSAA’s Conversion Cup celebrates the ways ski areas go about turning first-time skiers and riders into repeat customers, and ultimately lifelong enthusiasts of the sport. NSAA’s Conversion Cup challenge is a friendly competition among member ski areas that closely aligns with the industry’s critical goal of growing participation in our sports.
