Clinic Supervisor Rylan Sian brings a breadth of knowledge from many years of running clinics, teaching herbalism, working in healthcare management and advocacy, and a lifetime as a q***r community organizer. Our experienced students will have a chance to flex their 600 hours of instruction with one-on-one herbal consultations for anyone seeking herbal care.

What to Expect: Plan to spend 1.5 hours in session (virtually) where our student clinicians will review your health history in addition to your mental, emotional and physical health concerns in a safe and caring environment. Our Foundations in Traditional Western Herbalism Program Begins Sept 2nd!

Our course is designed to be rigorous because we believe you deserve a thorough education in herbalism. Over the course of nine months, you will learn medicine making techniques including the proper preparation of medicinal herbal teas, glycerites, tinctures, syrups, oxymels, electuaries, acetums, liniments, oils, salves and more. At the end of this course, you will be prepared for our Intermediate and Advanced Clinical Herbal programs. To get there, plan on additional time outside of the classroom engaging in captivating ‘assignments’ such as spending time with medicinal plants growing in the wildlands and neighborhoods where you live.

But it's not just rigor that makes our program stand out. We happily boast that many of our students find entire communities and careers that they hadn’t known existed until herb school, while others have expanded their professional offerings. If you know that plant medicine is community medicine and you are hungry for a world that centers relationship to land, health, and justice, then we encourage you to apply to one of our programs today, and we strongly encourage applicants from one or more under-represented and/or historically marginalized communities to apply.

Salves and ointments made with calendula are both preventive and treat cracked skin caused from breastfeeding, as well as an excellent choice for diaper rashes. You can add calendula to sugar scrubs for brightening skin, or sprinkle the flowers on your salad, or add to a facial steam for a herby glow up. But our favorite? Find a patch to sit with as the sun goes down and watch the bees dance.

Passion flowers acts as a calm, soothing presence when we can’t let go of anxious, ruminating thoughts. These beauties can help develop a nourishing sleep routine and replenish the body depleted by PMS. Think gentle, dreamy, and all about ease.

Passion flower is antispasmodic, sedative, hypnotic, and anodyne. A believer that peace starts within.

🌹 Ancient Rose Medicine 🌹

Energetic: Open Your Heart and I Will Fill it with Love and Nourishment.

Roses flowers are astringent and anti-inflammatory, and within the jewels of the rose hips you’ll find nourishing vitamin C. During the summer, rose medicine works to cool down overheated emotions. Elixirs, tincture, rose infused honey, tea, salve, oils, and jams can ease summer allergies, soothe frazzled nerves, sit with you in grief, and is a trusted beauty tonic for all things skin.

They might be common, but roses could not be more magical!

We are adamant about using the fruiting body!

Why the fruiting body? The fruiting body of mushroom includes more nutrient dense “full spectrum” support through more minerals and a higher concentration of vitamins. The mycelium is good, too (think of it as the mushroom’s networking system), but we want to work with the reproductive component of the mushrooms as much as possible, and that’s why the “fruit” is so important.

Our Mushroom Alliance includes all the stars of the fungi world; Reishi, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, Chaga, and Maitake.

If you want specific mushroom extracts to work with, we have Lion’s Mane Super (brain, brain, brain) and Turkey Tail Super (magical immune support).

Honestly, we could talk mushrooms all day long. If you’re in the shop, ask us about them!
