I grew up around women who made things instead of buying them.
My nana could craft literally anything. Incredible paintings. Bubble wands for the grandkids when we were little. Handmade cards in her own handwriting that are still framed in our home today. And she baked some of the most delicious things I’ve ever had.
My aunt worked with brads and did things that still don’t make sense to me. Beaded wire trees, beaded insects, acrylic pouring, always chasing the next thing to figure out.
Another aunts basement was basically an art studio. Bins of supplies for anything you could dream up!
So when people ask why I don’t just order my items wholesale, this is why. I can’t wrap my head around paying someone else to do what I can figure out on my own and make with my own hands.
This isn’t a business strategy. It’s just who I am.
Anyone else grow up around a crafty grandmother or family member? Tell me about them!
