Guatemala Antigua Hunapu - Medium
Last October I received my first shipment of beans from the Hunapu region of Guatemala. I was instantly a fan of the beans which were very popular. While I have sourced beans from two different farms in Hunapu this latest batch is my personal favorite. I unfortunately don't have that much available so if you liked this bean, grab some while it still lasts.
I followed the exact same medium roast profile from last year ... if it isn't broken why fix it, right? On a pour-over, I get a sugar-in-the-raw sweetness and caramel. There are faint notes of sugar cookie and even a little bit of apple underneath a chocolatey base that is pleasantly full-bodied. To me this is a solid daily drinker with plenty of depth and deliciousness.
This batch comes from the Hunapu area located in the Antigua coffee region of southern Guatemala. Hanapu is the indigenous name for Volcan de Agua, a volcano located near the center of Antigua. This lot comes from several small farms who have their coffee fields planted near the volcano’s slopes. These beans were harvested from between 1600-1900 meters above sea level.
Thanks Tiffany Turner for the great photo!
Available online or at Purplebrown Farm Store in Peninsula (while supplies last).
