Wait, is the playing a Percussion Exchange snare? On stage???

Yes, it certainly is! Hello all. It's been a long time since I've been up to posting. For those of you who don't know, I contracted the Corona virus in early January and have been battling terrible side effects and symptoms ever since. Best described like having Mono. Zero energy, extreme fatigue with a general host of constant cold symptoms. That has triggered depression which is something I've battled with in the past. If you know depression, then you know. It's crippling. I just haven't been up to social media for weeks upon weeks now. But enough of that ramble! I'm still playing and building!πŸ‘ŠπŸ₯πŸ‘Š

ShopTalk: Fiddleback Blanks

I have mentioned on workbench wednesday that I source curly maple from a local violin luthier. The fiddleback blanks I get are air dried for 5 years. This makes a superior sounding instrument opposed to using kiln dried lumber. Kiln drying hardens the wood and doesn't allow the cell structure to fully open during the curing process. Does this make a better sounding drum? I think so, but i'm no expert!
πŸ‘ŠπŸ₯πŸ‘Š This is just a quick blip of taking the fiddleback blanks and rendering them down to usable dimensions in the stave drum building realm.
