Did you know? ๐ Roosters have different nutritional needs than laying hens, and most backyard keepers don't find this out until there's already a problem.
Layer feeds are formulated with high calcium levels to support egg production. Roosters don't need that calcium and can't process it the same way. Over time, the excess can cause kidney damage.
If you have a mixed flock, an all-flock feed with oyster shell offered separately on the side is usually the smarter move. ๐
