Current crest projection for the Maumee River shows a predicted crest close to 587.

Hearing reports of quite a few white perch, catfish and carp being caught in the last couple days but also hearing the female walleye that are being caught have not spawned out. Some of the lake fisherman i have spoken to are seeing spawned out fish.
Given the temps we have had this week i am not sure what we will see in the next push of fish once the river crests.

Hope everyone is enjoying the great weather and excellent fishing this weekend and don't forget to check out the Walleye Festival in Maumee.
I have been slacking on posting pictures this year. If you have had luck drop a picture or two in the comments!

A customer recently decided to set his boat up for the walleye run and added this winch to his boat. I am always impressed with the time and craftsmanship put into these winches. Top notch work.

*** current projected crest at 590' this evening. This will likely go up.

Another 1/2" + of additional rainfall fell overnight. Storms forecasted for the area this evening and continued chances of heavy rain through Saturday with a addition 2" + rainfall possible.

I hate to encourage people not to fish but if you had plans to fish the Maumee River over the holiday weekend you may want to make other plans. The additional rainfall will likely keep the river high through the weekend and into the first few days of next week.

If you decide to venture to the river please be cautious, the river is flowing high and extremely fast carrying large trees and other debris making for very hazardous conditions.

Safe to say we can stop with the rain dances. Currently at 2.5" of rainfall in my guage and still coming down. Good news is the fishing should be great once the river crests and returns to a fishable level.

This rain could really bring the Maumee River up. Don't forget the rain gear this week.

This rain could really bring the Maumee River up. Don't forget the rain gear this week.

A SOGGY WEEK AHEAD | A blend of various forecast rainfall outputs through the end of the day Friday (April 3rd) show a widespread 1-2" of rainfall, with the potential for more if the storm track nudges slightly south.

Furthermore, thunderstorms still look likely - especially Tuesday afternoon and evening - but the strength of these storms appears marginal, especially compared to last week.

We still need a lot more rain to say bye to the drought for good across NW Ohio and a chunk of the area south of Fort Wayne, but this will help!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Looks like the forecasts are starting to agree on stormy weather and heavy rain Tuesday evening followed by a couple days of rain throughout the week. 🎣🎣

** update... latest crest prediction has been lowered a foot to 582.4

The Maumee River should crest close to 583.5 late Sunday night. Although we hoped for more rain, this should help bring some fresh fish into the river and make more access points productive. Looking ahead to next week the rainfall in the forecast is slowly starting to fade. Not what we want to see so let's all hope that changes. 🎣🎣
