“You know what kills more people than gang violence, police brutality and guns, Regular ol’ TABLE SALT!” - Dave Chappelle

The simple answer is that salt is associated with higher blood pressure. About 50 to 70 million people in the U.S. have hypertension, and all of them would benefit from a low-salt diet.

Excess sodium increases blood pressure because it holds excess fluid in the body, and that creates an added burden on the heart. Too much sodium will increase your risk of stroke, heart failure, osteoporosis, stomach cancer and kidney disease. And, 1 in 3 Americans will develop high blood pressure in their lifetime.

Limiting your sodium is tough because about 75 percent of sodium in Americans' diets comes from processed or prepared foods, not salt that we add at the table.

Barry Marshall infected himself with stomach Ulcers and won the Nobel Prize in medicine for it! When he proposed that Helicobacter pylori was the cause of stomach ulcers, gastroenterologists dismissed him, holding on to belief that they were caused by stress.

Knowing that the simple cure would be antibiotics, Marshall decided that the only way to prove his theory was to run an experiment on the only human patient he could enlist – himself.

Antibiotics are used to treat or prevent some types of bacterial infection. They work by killing bacteria or preventing them from spreading. But they do not work for everything.

Many mild bacterial infections get better on their own without using antibiotics.

Antibiotics do not work for viral infections such as colds and flu, and most coughs and sore throats.

When it comes to antibiotics, take your doctor's advice on whether you need them or not. Antibiotic resistance is a big problem – taking antibiotics when you do not need them can mean they will not work for you in the future.

When antibiotics are needed

Antibiotics may be used to treat bacterial infections that:

are unlikely to clear up without antibiotics
could infect others
could take too long to clear without treatment
carry a risk of more serious complications

Anyone can become injured during a fall, car accident, or any other daily activity. If you participate in impact sports such as football or boxing, you have an increased risk of getting a concussion. Concussions are usually not life-threatening, but they can cause serious symptoms that require medical treatment.

•Concussion Signs Observed•
🌚Can’t recall events prior to or after a hit or fall.
🌘Appears dazed or stunned.
🌓Forgets an instruction, is confused about an assignment or position, or is unsure of the game, score, or opponent.
🌗Moves clumsily.
🌖Answers questions slowly.
🌕Loses consciousness (even briefly).
🌔Shows mood, behavior, or personality changes.

•How a concussion is treated•

Treatment for a concussion depends on the severity of your symptoms. You might need surgery or other medical procedures if you have:

🏏bleeding in the brain
🏇🏼swelling of the brain
🪂a serious injury to the brain

However, most concussions don’t require surgery or any major medical treatment 👉🏼

If the concussion is causing headaches, your doctor may recommend over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol). Your doctor will also probably ask you to get plenty of rest, avoid sports and other strenuous activities, and avoid driving a vehicle or riding a bike for 24 hours or even a few months, depending on the severity of your injury. Alcohol might slow recovery, so ask your doctor if you should avoid drinking it. If you should avoid alcohol, ask your doctor for how long.

In general, the goals of physical therapy are to decrease pain, increase function, and provide education on a maintenance program to prevent further recurrences.

Almost every individual who has suffered from low back pain should stretch their hamstring muscles once or twice daily. Simple hamstring stretching does not take much time, although it can be difficult to remember, especially if there is little or no pain. Therefore, hamstring stretching exercises are best done at the same time every day so it becomes part of a person's daily routine. There are many more stretches that can be done to alleviate lower back pain.

Take care of your Choppers!

Tooth decay is the destruction of your tooth enamel, the hard, outer layer of your teeth. It can be a problem for children, teens and adults. Plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, constantly forms on your teeth. When you eat or drink foods containing sugars, the bacteria in plaque produce acids that attack tooth enamel. The stickiness of the plaque keeps these acids in contact with your teeth and over time the enamel can break down. This is when cavities can form.

You can help prevent tooth decay by following these tips:

⚫️Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
⚫️Clean between your teeth daily with floss or interdental cleaner.
⚫️Eat nutritious and balanced meals and limit snacking.
⚫️Check with your dentist about the use of supplemental fluoride, which strengthens your teeth, and about use of dental sealants (a plastic protective coating) applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (where decay often starts) to protect them from decay.
⚫️Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral examination.

Diabetes is a disease that occurs when your blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy. Sometimes your body doesn’t make enough—or any—insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Glucose then stays in your blood and doesn’t reach your cells.

Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause health problems. Although diabetes has no cure, you can take steps to manage your diabetes and stay healthy. It starts with being informed.

While colds and flu have symptoms in common, flu symptoms usually come on much more suddenly and severely. Allergies can cause symptoms that are very similar to a cold or flu, such as a runny nose, sore throat, or sneezing. However, allergies do not cause a fever. Because each allergy has a different underlying cause, it is essential that a person receives the right diagnosis, so that they can get the best treatment.

Acne occurs when hair follicles become plugged with oil and dead skin cells. It often causes whiteheads, blackheads or pimples. Overproduction of oil and a buildup of bacteria contribute to pimples also.
