I was just sitting here in the store thinking , what a blessing it is to serve in this ministry, the people I meet in here are often such a blessing, the volunteers who work here are always a blessing, concerned for the needs of our customers and especially there concerns
For the eternal souls, our purpose is to win the lost to Jesus Christ an to raise monies for foreign missionaries to that end , we have seen 110 professions of faith in the store, we will continue to seek the lost seeking to fulfill the great commission .

President's Day / Family Day New Song Devotional

A CLOSER WALK!

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

​So many times we sing good spiritual songs without considering the message in the song. Our New Song for today is a Patsy Cline song (no, no relation .. although I was asked so many times growing up!). The song has a good message to it. We are weak. And He is strong. And we will be satisfied as long as we walk close to Him.

But this is one song that is Biblically incorrect in a number of places.

"Just a closer walk with thee .. grant it Jesus is my plea..." Really? Jesus does not have to "grant" it. In fact He DESIRES IT! He wants us to have a closer walk with Him. Our verse of the day is so clear. He's knocking on our heart's door, trying to have a personal, close walk with us. Our walk with Him is not right because of what WE are doing, not because of what He is NOT doing.

Daily walking close with Him is not something that is up to our Lord ... but totally up to us. Let's look at the song:

"Just A Closer Walk With Thee"

I am weak but thou art strong
Jesus, keep me from all wrong
I'll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee

Just a closer walk with thee
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea

Accuse me of picking at nits .. but I'm really not. Even that last verse. When this life is over, we don't have to worry about finding sweet peace and rest. We WILL find sweet peace and rest.

And I'm not picking on Patsy. Who knows, she may not have been a Christian. No idea. And, yes, this is a bit of a different devotional. But songs have messages. Many songs sound good, but may not be doctrinally sound.

Make no mistake. Your walk with Jesus is up to you. Not Him. He desires a close walk with you. But, if you've never received Him as Lord and Saviour, you will never have a close walk with Him, and that may have been the problem with the lyrics all along. And if you are saved, your walk with Him is totally dependent upon how you are living your life for Him.

If you love Jesus, you will keep His commandments (John 14:15), and your walk will be closer with Him.

FRIDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

PEACE IN THE VALLEY

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Wow! When you look around you, and watch the goings-on of this old world, peace is not the first thing that comes to mind. The word "peace" is used 431 times in the Bible. For something to be mentioned that many times, it must be important.

But few there are that find real peace here on this old ball of dirt. Worry, fear, despair, fretting over the littlest things. And, then there are storms that come up that must be navigated. All of these things disrupt whatever peace we may have at the moment.

The mountains seem so high. The valleys so deep and the oceans so wide. And we get to the point to where we feel we can't go another step .. either up, down or across.

But there can be peace in those valleys. There can be joy on the mountains and calm in the storms that are raging in our lives. Here's a "new song" that may be an encouragement. Again, take a moment as you ponder the words. Truly .. there can be peace in the valley ... for you.

If you're "tired and so weary" raise your hand! Yes, I see those hands in the back row! I think all hands are raised. Mine certainly is. But Praise God! There will be peace in the valley for those who have received Christ as Saviour and are His children. No sadness, no sorrow..no trouble I see. There will be peace in the valley .. for me. Yes .. for me!

TUESDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

GIVE THEM ALL TO JESUS!

Psalms 34:17-19 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

So, how ya doin? So many of God's children are travelling down the road of sorrow and despair it seems. Whether it be financial, family, job, spiritual, etc., there just seems to be a lot going on.

And don't get me started on the state of societal decay and decadence. This world is a mess!

But as Christians, we don't have to stay and wallow in the muck and mire of the times. We can rise above it through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Note the first few words of our Scripture: "The righteous cry...and the Lord heareth!" Who are the righteous? Us! Born again, bought by the blood children of our holy and wonderful Father! Because you can't be "righteous" unless you are born again! Righteous simply meaning, "right with God". And those who have not received the free gift of salvation through Christ, can never be right with God, for they are still dead in their sins.

But this verse says that God hears us .. and not only hears us but delivers us out of our troubles. Praise His Name!!

Yes, as these verses say .. MANY are our afflictions. But God can, and does, deliver us out of them all. What a comfort! But we must give them up to Him .. and allow Him to deliver us.

Stop fighting Him! Stop trying to do it all on your own! Just give those afflictions over to the One who can truly solve them. Check out the words to our "New Song" for today:

MONDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

KEEPING IT NEW!

Isaiah 42:10 Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.

Sometimes a "new song" doesn't have to be "new" .. as in .. never heard it before. Sometimes it's taking a favorite song and singing it "anew" every time it's sung. Our "new song" tonight is one of those kinds of songs.

I've been preaching Sunday Nights at the Walla Walla Penitentiary and going through my series on the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Last night we went over Chapter 4, verses 2 - 11. In these verses the Apostle John gives us a glimpse of what we will be experiencing when we get to Heaven! No, we won't be floating on clouds, strumming harps, or any of the other silly things we see in the media today.

We will be around the throne, praising God, giving Him the glory for all things! For He is truly worthy. And .. What a Day that will be!!

Which happens to be the title of our "new song" tonight. What a day that will be .. when my Jesus I shall see!!!" This is probably one of my favorite songs in our hymn book, and was a favorite at Olde Tyme. And it was one of the songs we sang last night!

But when we sing these old favorites, we need to really pay attention to the words, and sing them again .. for the very first time!

WHAT A DAY THAT WILL BE



There is coming a day,

WEDNESDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

SOMETHING GOOD IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!!

Romans 8:26-28 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Aren't you weary of all the negativity of the day? I can't watch or read the news any more. You'd think the world is coming to an end tomorrow!

But .. my Bible says that ALL things work together for GOOD!! For those who love God!! For those who are the called according to His purpose!!

And .. I'm one of those who love God!! And I'm one of the called!! So .. all things are working for good if you believe the Word of God (and I do!) And if you are one of those who love God .. all things are working for good for you too! And all means ALL and that's all that "all" means!

In the vernacular .. IT'S ALL GOOD!

So, here's a "NEW SONG" you can sing today. Man .. something good is about to happen! So rejoice in the Lord ... and again .. I say REJOICE!!

Back in the store after 3 weeks in Arizona with my Grandchildren Jayden and Avery. Had a wonderful time, happy to be back, want to thank all the wonderful volunteers that work in this ministry, and covered for me while I was away.

SUNDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

TO WHOM DO WE BELONG?

I sing a new song,

Since Jesus Came.

I Serve a new Master,
I Wear a new name.

I Walk a new road
I Have a new goal.

I Know a new peace,
Down deep in my soul.

I hope you can sing this little song with the confidence that only the Holy Spirit in your heart can give!

So, How did your first "New Week" go? Are you singing that "new song" in your life? Have you put the past where it belongs..... in the past!? And have you made the decision to establish a "new song" for 2018?

Psalms 40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

You know .. when we live our lives with this "new song" .. as this verse says, many shall see it. When we live for Jesus, He will be lifted up, and He will draw all men to Himself. The key is to understanding that we are no longer our own, but we belong to Jesus! He purchased our redemption with His own blood, as we saw the other day. But are we living our lives "in Christ"? Are we unashamed to tell the world that we belong to our Lord and Saviour?

Take heed to the words of this most prescient "New Song" for today"

FRIDAY NEW SONG DEVOTIONAL

WRITTEN IN RED!

John 3:16: For God SO LOVED the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have EVERLASTING life!!

How much does God love us?? This most popular verse says that God "SO" loves us. He loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for us. His love letter to us .. a living love letter .. is written with the blood of our Saviour, Jesus Christ ... written on a hill call Calvary .. just for you .. and just for me!

How often do you just sit and contemplate what Jesus did for you? He willingly went to the cross to be the perfect sacrifice. Nothing on this earth could say "I love you", more than this.

How often do you thank Him? How often do you reciprocate that love by living your life for Him? Have you received Him as your Personal Saviour? Have you accepted that perfect give .. wrapped up in red?

Has your love for Christ become "commonplace"? Cold and stale? Have you left your "first love" as the church at Ephesus did?

Maybe it's time to "SING A NEW SONG" .. and renew your love relationship with your Lord and Saviour.

BECAUSE HE LIVES!

Psalms 149:1 Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints.

How's your New Song coming? Are you seeking God's supply in getting filled up? So often we come to God with a teaspoon, and he is tying to "fill us" with a front loader. And we wonder why we don't feel blessed.

Today's "New Song" is Because He Lives! Allow the words to this song permeate your heart.

"God sent His Son .. they called him JESUS!! He came to love, heal and forgive. He lived and died .. to buy my pardon .. an empty grave is there to prove MY SAVIOUR LIVES!!!"

"Because He lives ... I can face tomorrow! Because He lives, All fear is gone. Because I know .. He holds the future .. and life is worth the living just because He lives!"

How true is that!! Life is truly worth fighting for.... because my Saviour lives!!



Are you discouraged?? Your Saviour lives!!
