Our Story & Philosophy
In 1920, Grandmother Chen Jian (陳儉) was born in Taiwan, which was under Japanese rule from 1895 to 1945. In this environment and as a result of her school teachers, Chen Jian adopted the Japanese name, Yoshiko.
Yoshiko was the founder of Yifang Fruit Tea’s grandmother. She eventually grew up and married a young farmer who worked in a pineapple field. Seeing her husband toiling away in the field under the sweltering sun caused Yoshiko to worry for his health. Thus, Yoshiko decided to take action. She used the overripe pineapples from the farm to make an all-natural, preservable jam. Then, using that very jam and adding water, Yoshiko made a thirst-quenching and refreshing pineapple drink for her husband, thereby showing her love and appreciation for him.
Yifang Fruit Tea has inherited Grandmother Yoshiko’s secret recipe and, more importantly, her spirit and belief in making drinks from natural ingredients without any chemical concentrate.
