Palouse Slots & Hobbies had a great turn out for our 3rd race of the Spring/Summer retro series with 12 racers on the roster. I would like to thank Walt Hough owner of the Green Hornet race facility in Malaga Washington for making the trip out. it was his first time racing at Palouse Slots. Check out his page for their racing program an hours.
After our last months race was cancelled everyone was ready to get racing so here are the results.
Our first class up was Stock car on the red track. Robert Clements of Moscow Idaho taking first place with 151 laps putting Bruce Schmitt from Richland WA in second place with 145 laps. ( this became a common pattern through out the day ). Tim Gray also from Richland WA tied with with Bruce Schmitt just missing out by a few feet with 145 laps. Leroy Sanders from Palouse in 4th with 140 laps.
Up next F-1 on Kens track. Once again Robert Clements and Bruce Schmitt fighting for the first place position with Robert Clements coming in first with 118 laps putting Bruce Schmitt in second place with 117 laps. We had a three way tie for 3rd place between Richlands Tim Gray Spokane's Paul Dwyer, Pasco's John Wimett. Tim Gray edged them out to claim victory for 3rd place 115 laps. Spokane's Paul Dwyer in 4th place 115 laps.
Lunch break with Sub Sandwiches roast beef, Ham, Turkey, Pastrami, four different kids of cheese and all the fixings that go with it. Potato salad, tri pasta, chips and ice cream for desert.
Back to racing. Can Am on the red track. Track owner Leroy Sanders came in first place with 144 laps with a tie for second place between Robert Clements and Richland WA Tim Gray. Robert took second bye a couple of feet with 142 laps dropping Tim Gray to 3rd place with 142 laps. Bruce Schmitt of Richland in 4th with 138 laps.
Last race of the day Coupe on Ken's track. Robert Clements set a new track record in this class with 128 laps. Congratulations' Robert. Bruce Schmitt of Richland WA and Spokane's Paul Dwyer tied for second place 10 laps behind Robert with 118 laps. Bruce edged out Paul to take second with Paul in 3rd. Leroy Sanders claiming fourth place with 117 laps.
It was fun filled day of close racing and I appreciate all the racers that attended. Our next race will be June 27th.
