Where do we even begin? Maybe with May 19, the day Score officially entered the world thanks to our author friend l, Kennedy Ryan.

Last night at the historic Lincoln Theatre we gathered with nearly 1,000 amazing readers to celebrate Score, and whew… what a night it was.

From Glory Edim leading such a thoughtful and joy-filled conversation, to the entire crowd singing “Happy Birthday” for Score’s release day, the love in the room was undeniable. And can we talk about all these green fits? We had a dream of adding to an already phenomenal theme, and y’all showed UP in honor of the Harlem Edition and looked GOODT doing it.

Huge love to DJ Roots Tonic for keeping the energy high all night long, and to everyone who laughed, cried, clapped, and leaned in as Kennedy shared pieces of her journey, including serving up a little tea about which actors she’d love to see bring her characters to life on the big screen.

In a world that feels real heavy at the moment, nights like this remind MahoganyBooks why we do what we do. We’re a small bookstore team with big dreams of creating connection, community, and joy through books, and last night was one more night where that dream continues to unfold in real time.

We are endlessly grateful to Kennedy and the wonderful team at Forever Publishing for including MahoganyBooks on such a phenomenal tour.

And to our bookstore fam, truly the best team in the nation, and to the BEST readers in DC, thank you for showing up with your hearts wide open.
