This is the second thrifted sweatshirt I used as a base for one of Uncle Charlie's Dresden plate. This was a present for my mom. We picked out the sweatshirt together and she picked out her favorite Dresden plate from the stack of unfinished quilt pieces. I used reverse applique to sew them together.

Gorgeous vintage fabrics make 70 this Dresden plate quilt block. I bought a bunch of them from someone who said their Uncle Charlie was a WW2 vet and made them as a way to deal with PTSD. I can tell that he hand sewed the little pieces together, and I had to repair a few of the seams.

The sweatshirt was thrifted, and the perfect backdrop for the Dresden plate. I added the quote "You Matter" to the center.

The front pocket of the sweatshirt was small and my phone fell out easily, so I took it off and made a bigger one from a threadbare quilt scrap.

These are a pile of my work pants. I wear black pants just about everyday, but now they have a hidden love note that only I can see when I pull them on and off. Same wardrobe, but a mini upgrade that makes me smile. Happy new year!

I added some wildflowers to the back windows of my car, Ruby, recently. It's made it much easier for me to spot my car in parking lots. The bee has been on the back window for a few years, as well as the banana and genie pot. I added the phrase "It's going to be okay" to my dashboard in 2022 during a time when it didn't seem like anything was going to be ok. Seeing those several times a day seemed to be a comfort to me. I thought about taking it down recently, but my son borrowed the car and said one of his friends noticed it and liked it. I think we all want to be reminded... even if we don't know exactly what the future looks like yet, it will be ok.

I took a thrifted mustard yellow sweatshirt, and added a pumpkin face using a threadbare quilt for the face and scraps from old jeans for the face. I wore it to The Pumpkin Stand, an adorable spot near Ovid, NY. I bought some beautiful pumpkins and lots of different varieties of squash to try this fall.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! FALL

I sewed my way out of a funk last weekend with strips of orange fabric, framed by old jeans. I took it to work and hung it on our door with paper clips, which fits nicely with my philosophy of "use what you've got. "

I made flower necklaces for Joy and her friends from some scraps of fabric. The elastic makes it easy to slip over their heads.
