We've had a few questions over the past week, so we'd like to clarify that KC Brick Store is no in any way, shape, or form affiliated with Bricks and Minifigs. Luckily, we haven't had any confusion result in negative reviews or anything of that sort, but we wanted to make sure to highlight that we're truly independent. That means that Erin and myself (Dan) don't have a corporate entity telling us what we can/can't say or do, and that means $0.00 of your purchase is paid back to a corporate machine to fund a CEO's paycheck, corporate legal fees, or corporate PR campaign. *side note: there are a lot of companies claiming to be independent these days, but if they pay royalties to a corporate entity that dictates what they can/can't say/do, that company by definition is not independent
When Erin and I started KC Brick Store, we had to decide if we would go the independent route or franchise with the national chain. For us, it wasn't much of a decision really - if we were going to put everything on the line to open a store, we wanted to be the ones calling the shots. We wanted to succeed or fail by our own merits (or lack thereof...) - to be the masters of our own destiny. We recognized that there were benefits to franchising, such as getting the ready-made business model, playbook for how to open and run the store, plug-and-play inventory & POS system, the network of contacts & suppliers, etc. But we also knew there would be downsides, such as losing autonomy and tying our reputation to the reputation of every other franchise and the corporate office. So we opted to put in the hard work building everything from scratch. We've never regretted that decision, and recent events have reinforced that it was the right call for us.
Thank you to everyone who has visited and supported us along the way. None of this would be possible without you. And a big thank you to our amazing team, who has allowed our dream to reach new heights that we never thought were possible.
