Hello Birds!
As we approach our three-year anniversary, we first want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has ever come by and said hello, maybe bought some books, maybe bought some art from local creators, or at very least picked up some art supplies from the Orlando Community Art Supply Closet. We love you all, and appreciate all of the warm, kind, and caring energy you have sent our way.
It has always been a labor of love to keep the store open, but unfortunately we have reached a point where it is no longer financially sustainable. Our lease expires on November 1st, and we have decided not to renew it.
Therefore we are no longer accepting donations or trade-ins as of September 30th. If you have any outstanding gift cards or trade-in credit, we encourage you to come by and use it through the month of October. If your trade-in credit has not been used by November 1st, it will unfortunately expire. Gift cards, however, stay on record, and can be used online at our website, which we plan to revamp in the near future.
Our last day open will be October 26th, which coincides with Audubon Park's Zombietoberfest. Leading up to that day, we plan to have massive sales and fun events, so watch our Facebook and Instagram for announcements.
We do have some good news, however! Another small (romance only) bookseller, The New Romantics, will be moving into our current location once we are gone! We are so excited to see how they transform the space, and are confident the community will embrace their arrival. Follow them on Instagram for the most current information!
Orlando businesses have a deep need for community support, and the main way to accomplish that is to shop (truly) local, and invest your time and energy into the vibrancy of the Central Florida art community. We have been shown time and time again that we have very special creators and artists living here, and we should never give up supporting them.
Literary access and support for the arts will always be important, so we deeply encourage you to do whatever is within your power to ensure small businesses not only survive in Orlando, but thrive. We promise to always do the same.
With much love,
Joybird Books
