It’s hard to share this, but I’m finally making myself do it. The Quirky Bird is closing. It’s a decision not come to lightly. I can say that sometimes the growth we seek doesn’t always take the form we first imagine when we start a new journey. I have learned SO much about what I am capable of, I’ve made new friends and connections I might not have otherwise and I’ve explored what being an artist means for others but also in me personally. Saying thank you to all those who have supported my little shop this past year hardly conveys the feeling of warmth I feel in my heart. Thank you all the same from the bottom of my heart.

The past couple weeks I have still been questioning my decision and watching new faces of delighted customers stream through. I’m so pleased and touched by those many moments over the year I’ve seen joy and wonder light up the eyes of customers and friends in this space. The great news is that this moment in time is leading to a transition in my time and energy. More on that as things develop.

Now I prepare to find homes for my current stock, decor and fixtures. So everything is 40% off! I’ll be in and out over the next week packing and moving things out. Today will be my last day for regular store hours. If you can’t make it in today and know specific items you hope to buy, message me a request and we can schedule a time next week to connect.

This year for Halloween we’ll be representing at our healing arts studio at 708 Main Street. Come say hi and get some goodies!

Come show off your costume, shop local shops and gather tasty treats at this year’s Trick-or-Treat on Main Street! This event is a safe and fun way to celebrate Halloween and support local small businesses in downtown Oregon City. It is well-attended rain or shine, so be prepared if it gets drizzly and plan on parking elsewhere and walking in. See you there!

My first outing after 5 days at home. Phew! So fun to see all the treasures at the antiques event on Main St. I got lucky to find a new amethyst cabochon ring I’ve been hoping to find for 8-10 years! Love at first sight does exist. 🥰

Hey Friends & Family! On Tuesday I had emergency surgery to remove my appendix. The great news is that the surgery went perfectly and I am safely recovering at home. Things are going just dandy in that regard and I am so grateful. The hard part is that, due to the physical nature of my massage work, my surgeon has recommended two weeks leave from work and light duty when I do return in order to safely and fully recover. I am going to follow her advice and be conservative with how I dive back in to my daily routine and work. This will create a sizable financial hardship for myself and loved ones, as you can imagine.

Not being one to give up easily, I need to ask for your support and I’m hoping that my trusted network will be interested in helping by purchasing art, jewelry and gifts from my store The Quirky Bird. I am hoping to put in some hours there next week. I will also be posting several pairs of the fun, chic earrings I’ve made at special pricing online here tonight and tomorrow. So keep an eye out for those posts if you’re interested! Another beautiful morning in the shop. We’ll be closing early at 2pm today in order to attend The Festival of the Arts at The End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Hope to see you there!
