Broody Judy
Job Title: Director of Nest Abandonment & Aggressive Under-Nest Defense
Employee of the week??? Maybe for all the wrong reasons.
This weekâs special recognition goes to Broody Judy, our resident nest-hopping, finger-chomping, low-growling menace.
Judy has decided that motherhood is her full-time job⌠and also that commitment is optional. She will sit on a clutch of eggs like her life depends on itâuntil roughly 48 hours later, when she abruptly abandons that nest and moves two boxes over like sheâs just discovered a better Airbnb. Any hopes of actually hatching chicks under her remain purely theoretical.
Approach with caution. Checking under Judy is a contact sport. She does not politely warn you. She bites. Then she growls. The growl is low, continuous, and deeply judgmental. It is the sound of a chicken who has decided you are the problem.
We love her. We also keep heavy gloves nearby.
Congratulations, Judy. Youâre not Employee of the week. Youâre something far more memorable.
