This is why you shop small, yโall. ๐โค๏ธ
I took my son to Roehlerโs Christmas Tree Farm thinking itโd be a quick โgrab a pre-cut tree and goโ situation.
But if youโre a parent of a child with autism, you already know: plans = out the window.
My son had this whole Hallmark movie scene in his headโฆ ๐ฒ wandering the fields, comparing trees, picking THE ONE, then watching a man cut it down while we carried it out on our backs like lumberjacks, singing carols the whole way home.
Reality? We were starving, it was raining, muddy, the sun was setting, and I had a migraine. I just wanted a tree from the barn and to go. He was NOT having it.
Meltdown mode: activated. ๐
Every pre-cut tree was โfakeโ to him. I figured weโd just go home tree-less.
But thenโฆ Kevin from Roehlerโs stopped me. ๐
I explained the situation quietly, and without hesitation this man said:
โShow me which tree you like.โ
I pointed to one in the barn.
And yโallโฆ he carried that tree on his back all the way out to the muddy fields, stood it up in a row, and let us โfind it.โ He even โpretend cut it downโ for my son. My boy lit up with joy. โจ
Everyone won. My son got his magical Christmas tree moment. I got a tree (and my sanity). And Kevin? He became a hero in my book.
THIS is what small businesses are about. ๐ฅน
No big-box store would ever go that far. But Roehlerโs? They gave me back the magic of Christmas AND made my son so, so happy.
So here it is, loud and clear: Kevin, you saved our Christmas. ๐ You made my son laugh, you lifted my burden, and you reminded me that there are still truly good people in this world.
I will never buy a Christmas tree anywhere else. Ever. ๐ฒโค๏ธ
Merry Christmas, Roehlerโs family. You have a customer for life.
