It's been a busy summer, art wise. The Cooperstown Art Association Daily Draw Challenge, got me through Covid's late winter/spring, I painted a tile for Truro Historical Society's fundraiser, exhibited in several art shows, and took 2 6-day pottery workshops! I'll share some photos below.

Just got back from a Prairie Home Companion cruise; sun was too hot (ha) but loved the rest of it. Enchanted with the turquoise water, been trying to capture it with watercolors. I want to paint a picture of this little boy.

Hi all, now that I am retired (yay!) I thought I'd have more time to create. But noooo, we are spending most of our time on Long Island clearing out my mother-in-law's house. Maybe February??? I have made enough pottery now to fill the kiln. Firing soon.

Lately I've been making lots and lots of mugs. My idea was to paint a clown portrait and clown name on them to personalize each one. I'm not limiting this to clowns, though. Anyone want a personalized mug? I can't paint people portraits, but could take a crack at other pictures.

Just did a 3 day workshop with Elizabeth Nields, and learned some new techniques. Didn't get any pictures, but in a week or so we'll be glazing. The problem with creating pieces that you really like is the risk that they will be ruined in the glazing process, sigh.

Just participated in the salt firing at Elizabeth Nields' pottery event. Wearing a gas mask because I just added salt to the kiln. Got some wonderful pieces out of it. Great fun!

ooo, just spent my Etsy earnings on a new pottery toy- a Giffin Grip. (gee, aren't you excited??) It's actually pretty cool. It pops onto the wheel, and I can set my leather hard pottery piece on it, swivel the top, and the Giffin Grip swooshes it into place for trimming. I tried it out on the little cups I'm making for the birthday party tea set. Sooo much easier than the old way of recentering. I'll try to get a picture of me using it.
