Our Eau Claire friends continue to do remarkable work!! 7 Rivers Recycling, your local community and our environment thank you!🤩♻️

Our first annual mattress recycling drop off event was a huge success!!!

We collected 260 mattress/box springs. That is a semi trailer and a half of mattresses that didn’t end up in our local landfill.

Including these 260 mattresses, we have now diverted 2,320 mattresses from our landfill since we began this program with 7 Rivers Recycling, LLC back in February 2022.

If you weren’t able to attend the event, we offer a pick up service year round.

Stay tuned for the date of our second annual event in 2025.

Update: With the additional units from UW-Stevens Point, landfill space saved jumped up to 5,232 cubic feet!!😍

Shoutout to our friends at Recycling Connections for hosting the areas first mattress recycling collection event this past Saturday (5/25). The word is out in the SP area that mattresses CAN be recycled and residents were excited to know so.

Because of this event, ~1,100 cubic feet of local landfill space was saved. Each mattress matters, thank you♻️🙂

Exciting news for our friends in the Stevens Point area‼️ 7 Rivers Recycling staff will be onsite during this event to assist with collection & will set up a table with education/visuals to help spread awareness about the benefits of mattress recycling.

Thanks to Recycling Connections for introducing mattress recycling to the Stevens Point area for the first time by hosting this event♻️☺️

Recycling Connections is a non-profit organization located in Stevens Point, WI that focuses on education and outreach with recycling & composting information. We offer recycling and compost education outreach and consultations.

What a year 2023 was for us at 7 Rivers Recycling. By just looking at a mattress, who would think that 80% of it can be recycled?!

There is more recycling value to a mattress than just the metal. To help better understand, there was over 200 TON of foam collected and recycled from operations in 2023🤯 All going to a creditable end market for repurposing.

The data doesn't lie, recycling a mattress is feasible & realistic. If you're still leery of the process - let's chat🙂♻️

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students‼ Move out is near - are you needing to responsibly "pass on" your mattress, box spring or other household furniture?? Well, stop by the UWEC Student Office of Sustainability's collection event on May 18 & 19 to do such task. Head over to the Water St parking lot next week with you're student ID to participate! ♻🚮

Large Item Collection will begin on May 15th for the residents in the City of La Crosse, Wisconsin! Reminder that those mattresses & box-springs do get recycled, indeed! Place your unwanted mattress/box-spring out on the curb on your designated recycling day to be picked up by crews for proper recycling.

Last year, a total of 1,488 total units were collected & recycled during the duration of the program. Do you think City residents will surpass 1,500 total units this year?♻

If you have an old couch or furniture you need to get rid of, the City of La Crosse is providing an opportunity to help later in May.

48 truck loads later and the beginning steps of the project have been completed✅♻️

Throughout September & October 2022, 7 Rivers Recycling partnered with Southern Logistics of Fairhope, AL, to recycle roughly 10,600 mattresses from Fort McCoy Army Base in Sparta, WI. That's right, 10,600 mattresses‼️ As you can see from the pictures below, these mattresses take up A LOT of space. After a couple months, ALL of these mattresses will be torn apart by our technicians and material baled for recycling. After all is said and done, about 68 tons of steel will be recycled along with other polyesters & foams.

Local landfills are smiling with joy because, if landfilled, would have taken up more than 254,400 cubic feet of space. To better understand this space, 10,600 Fort McCoy mattresses would fill almost THREE Olympic sized swimming pools.
