Simple but not. I really love this cake. I also love that Mary's husband called me, and was whispering because she was in the next room as he was trying to order the surprise cake.

Early in May, I was fortunate to visit Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC, Canada. It is a memory that has stuck with me, and likely will forever.

I had a wedding cake for this weekend, for an Indian wedding. The bride was so incredible! She gave me an idea of what she wanted but said overall she was looking for a lot of color and floral. The call came in after my trip, and my vision for the cake is Butchart Gardens.

The bottom tier is the green rolling hills, lush an vibrant with big, bold floral that captures the eyes of even the smallest child. Then we move to the mid range, where bright floral sways, filling space. The top tier represents all the little flowers that are prevalent everywhere. So much color and joy.

I met the bride, Aakriti, between her ceremony and the other events. She is the warmest, most gracious woman, and I immediately felt a connection. I showed her the photos and explained my vision.

She sent this message yesterday, and I am still over the moon!

"Stacey! Omg! That cake was absolutely delicious!!! Thank you so much for sharing your art with us, and for the gorgeous design!!

Thank you for catching me outside and explaining it to me - I shared it with our guests and they thought it was beautiful too! Such a gorgeous color palette and it looked so beautiful with all of the colors we had and was better than I could have imagined ."

This is what I did for the weekend. Yeah, this was all for the weekend. I was tired by Monday so took a day of rest.

Overall, I baked, filled, iced, and decorated the equivalent in weight of a large child or a small adult.

I missed a few pics: four small dessert boards, an 8"/3 layer S'Mores Special Edition Cake, an order of Lemon Tartlets

Everything is baked and made by hand from scratch within a few days of pick up which means everything is fresh.

I'd love to bake for you, and if I can fit it in, I will!! I am pretty much scheduled right thru June 2 but after that, dates are available. Except for June 13. June 13 is NOT available.

When life gives you lemons, Buttered Marshmallow gives you joy.

After making lemon curd for about 35 years, I perfected the recipe. When I write "perfected," please know this: I am not kidding.

This is the perfect balance of tart and sweet, it's silky and smooth and simply divine. It starts with fresh lemons that I personally hand-juice and zest, always.

So many compliments have come my way after someone tastes my tarts or tartlets or pies of filling between cake layers. "The best ever" is commonly used, and I always agree. It is "The best ever." I go thru nearly 10 pounds of lemons in a week. That's a lot of lemons!

A couple weeks ago, a woman from Canada ordered Lemon Tartlets for a birthday delivery to her father in town. A few days later I got a call from a different relative RAVING about the best tartlets she's ever had (mine!) at her brother's birthday celebration. She was going to a dinner party and hoped to get a rush order. I was able to comply. The hostess of the dinner party told her to NOT bring anything but this customer said she was not listening.

Two days later I got a call from the dinner party hostess. She wanted to tell me that those lemon tartlets were the best thing she's ever eaten in her life. She raved about the lemon and the buttery crust and the taste and on and on and on. All I could do was thank her, smile, and agree.

If lemon is your thing, anything from Buttered Marshmallow should be on your list. Don't live a life with regret.

I'm trying something new today -- blueberry lemon yeast rolls with cream cheese frosting. Like a cinnamon roll, but different. I might be selling them tomorrow morning. Might sell some cinnamon rolls too. If you're interested, just reply in the comments with the number and flavor you'd like. No strings -- your comments will just give me an idea on whether to get in the kitchen or mow my yard.
