We 💚 our regulars! Thank you so so much for supporting our planty business!

Our Petite Terrarium Class is Saturday morning! This one is sadly sold out, but be sure to DM us to book out a private terrarium class!

Some questions we always hear before people take the plunge:

'Are these hard to make?'
There's a little more than putting some dirt in a jar and calling it a day. The layers, materials, plant placement, moisture, and finishing details all matter. That's where having someone walk you through it makes a difference.

'How do I know when its thirsty?'
This is one of the trickier parts. Too much moisture can cause problems, while too little can leave your plants struggling. We'll show you what to look for so you're not playing terrarium roulette.

'Will I be able to keep this alive?'
That's the goal! We'll cover the care and maintenance your terrarium needs once it leaves Chlorophyll so you know what to do when it gets to your home. (And if for some reason things take a turn for the worse, we're always here to help!)

Have you come to one of our Terrarium Classes yet?

Tomorrow, we're making a giant kokedama.

Not a tiny one. Not a 'cute little thing for the windowsill' one.

An extra large Floating Log Kokedama.

We'll be getting our hands dirty and building the whole thing together, combining a living plant with a big piece of natural wood for a display that is part plant, part sculpture, and definitely going to get some questions from your houseguests.

It's one of those projects that makes you look at plants a little differently. Who said they need to live in a pot anyway??

Tomorrow's class is gonna be so cool! Are you ready??

Propagation is one of those plant adventures where patience becomes part of the process 🌱

You take a cutting, give it the right conditions, and then comes the hardest part...

Waiting.

But how do you know when your little plant experiment is ready to move from water to soil?

A few signs to look for:
🪴 Plate of spaghetti over a single noodle!
🪴 Lots of new fresh roots
🪴 Top growth as well as root growth

The goal isn't to rush the process. Those roots are doing some very important behind the scenes work before your plant is ready for its new chapter.

If you're still unsure on the ways of Plant Propagation, try out our Candelabra Propagation Class on August 29th!

What's the longest you've waited for a propagation to finally move into soil?

Some plant advice has been passed down so many times it feels like it should have its own library card 📚🪴

Earlier this week we talked about old wives tales that were incorrect. But every now and then, those old gardening sayings actually have a little truth hiding inside.

A few myths that are actually worth considering:

🪴 Talk to your plants
They might not understand your latest life update, but spending time caring for them means you're paying closer attention. They also enjoy smooth jazz and 80s/90s alt. (that's our secret at the shop🤭)

🪴 Rotate your plants
Plants naturally grow toward the light source, so a little spin every now and then can help encourage more balanced growth.

🪴 Mist your plants
This one is a bit convoluted. Misting only helps for a short time, but a humidifier will help for extended periods. Use misting as a way to clean or dust your plants rather than a long term fix for more sensitive plants like calathea.

Sometimes the old advice sticks around because there's a little wisdom tucked inside. The trick is knowing which tips deserve a spot on the bookshelf and which ones belong in the recycling bin 🍂

What plant advice have you heard that you wonder about?

Some things get better with time and a little imagination 🪴

Tomorrow, we're turning forgotten pieces of driftwood into living centerpieces during our Succulent Driftwood Log Class

Each piece of wood has its own story to tell. The curves, the textures, and tiny imperfections are what makes it special, and when paired with carefully chosen succulents, it becomes something completely unique.

It's one of our favorite projects because it makes you stop, use your hands, and re-center yourself. Personally, one of our favorite ways to spend a Saturday morning.

We can't wait to see what everyone creates tomorrow!

Maybe your next chapter doesn't need to be a complete rewrite.

Maybe it's just cleaning up your terrarium. Maybe it's remembering to water your plants before they're sending distress signals.
Maybe it's finally taking that class you've been eyeing.
Maybe it's saying yes to an evening that feels a little slower than the rest.

Just like in plants, growth rarely arrives all at once. Most of the time, it sneaks in through small routines that quietly become a part of who we are 💚

If you've been looking for a sign to start something new, this is it.

And if your idea of 'something new' is simply carving out an hour to sit with a good book, we'd love to see you at Silent Book Club Happy Hour tonight from 4-6pm. Bring your current read and settle in.

What's one small habit you're hoping to grow before the year is over? 🪴

The plant world is full of advice that's been passed down from one person to the next... and sometimes it deserves to stay in the history books 📚

Let's retire a few old wives tales:

❌️ "Water your plants on the same day every week"
Every plant has different needs and not everyone needs water every monday! Do your research on your plants care!

❌️ "Yellow leaves means you are a bad plant person."
Yellowing comes from overwatering, underwatering, aging leaves, pests, temperature changes, or even a recent move. Check your overall plant and their habitat before freaking out.

❌️"Pebble layer at the bottom of the pot solves all the drainage problems!"
Until you know your plants specific watering needs, do not put rocks on the bottom of the pot thinking you can just water like normal. The rocks only help collect water at the bottom and keep the roots wetter for longer!

❌️"You are just born with a green thumb."
Plant care is a talent that is learned through practice and perseverance through failure. It's okay!

If you've held onto these tales, don't worry! Part of being human is learning from one another and we're happy to be a part of your plant parent journey!!

What's one old wives tale you'd like clarity on?

Welcome back to Will It Plant week 18! The series where perfectly normal household objects become even better than the original intention.

This weeks victim... well volunteer lol....

🥁🥁 A lamp!

This beauty was spotted by manager Mollie's mom and grandma at the thrift a few weeks back and we all immediately said, "that would look SOOOOOO COOL with a plant in it!"

The open base made a perfect frame for orchids and turned out way better than we could have imagined! Check the stories to see what it looked like before!

Choosing your plant pot can feel a little like choosing a new apartment. You want something that fits your style, but it also has to have the right features to make it feel like home
🪴🏡

Before you fall in love with the prettiest pot on the shelf, here are a few things to consider:
-Size matters. Too big and your plant will rot, too small and your plant will start to throw leaves.
-Drainage matters! Do your research on your plant before putting a cactus in a drainerless glazed pot (hint: this is VERY VERY NOT GOOD)
-Location matters! Think about how heavy it will be to take it off the shelf and water or if the terra cotta pot is next to the air vent and will cause extra fast drying.
-Personality matters. Your plant's home should make you happy every time you see it.

The perfect pot isn't just decoration. It's the foundation for a happy plant and a space that feels a little more like you 💚

What's the first thing you look for when picking out a new pot: color, shape, size, or something else?

A plant stake should be a support system... not a plant prison.

We love a good plant glow-up, but when it comes to staking, there are a few common mistakes that can turn your helpful little holder-upper into a mini disaster.

A few things to avoid:
-hard tie-downs like wire or restrictive string. Use a soft 'tape' like Mossify | Garden Content & Essentials reusable plant tape to keep your stems cozy.
-Using stakes in the wrong plant. Some like to vine down, some need a support. Do your research to figure out what's best!
-Using the wrong kind of stake. Monsteras prefer a pole with moss so that their aerial roots can secure in and get stronger, but hoyas like more of a trellis (like in the video) so that their vines can grow in and throughout.

The goal is to guide, not to control. Plants are naturally dramatic little things, and sometimes they just need the right support while they figure themselves out.

What's the biggest plant care tip you wish someone had told you sooner?
