G'morning, everybody out there! It's that time again, in which I attempt to clear out space in the studio and jettison some old, slightly damaged or careworn books. In this case it's particularly silly because I very stupidly MOVED these books with me back to Oregon. (( I should have done this in July and spared myself the burden of moving hundreds of books but......I didn't. I was already moving 10,000-plus books so I guess I thought: "in for a penny, in for a Pound" or whatever.

ANYWAY, I have hundreds of book/ journals, they're.......fine, but not perfect. Still perfectly useful and full of utility but maybe less lovely than most, or imperfect in some way. The deal is the same as last time: Set of FIVE random books, 30 measely dollars, which includes postage. There is essentially no limit, so if you want......ten sets of five just........say so.

Comment below and I'll send you a note and an invoice and collect your latest shipping address. Please share if you want to.

A rare treat every Lemony Snicket book in lovely hardcover editions, probably in triplicate. I rarely see these but recently found a rich seam of them at the book mines. Also? Apologies for failing to post anything to this place in ages and ages, I lost heart and got too involved with moving and the ordinary cares of the world. I added a MESS of books to the website, long overdue, this evening, and intend to keep adding them this week, in advance of the holiday gifting period. Jinxy is happy and well, all the doggies are delighted by their new home, and Birdie and I are delighted to be back in Oregon. Hastening to post this, incomplete and inadequate as it is, before the indecision and self-doubt overcomes my ambition. It's a good time to browse the website, if you have gifts to think about. Good morning! Morning! Morning! Okay, afternoon. It's Juneteenth, which is a rare holiday that I actually feel an inclination to acknowledge and celebrate, being about upliftment, liberation and acknowledgement, rather than patriotic/ religious ideas that are so entirely absent inside me. ANYWAY, not sure how we're meant to celebrate yet. Special meals outside in the sunlight? Rest? It's a perfect day for a holiday, though, here in Olympia: wild and warm and fragrant and subdued. Holidays are often palpable here because it's a state capitol and we live blocks from the campus, so things are just subtly quieter than they'd be yesterday, for instance, or tomorrow. Blah blah. G'muffins, everyone out there! Thanks for the very-gratifying and helpful response to my petition for assistance the other day. I'm often pre-defeated by my own cynicism, assuming that things won't work, or are designed to prevent/ subvert my attempts to reach out in the absence of monetization because......that's often the world we live in now, but I'm delighted that it actually functions! Hurray! Having said that: here's a 'nother one: "A dummy goes to Africa" featuring a fellow in safari khakis and wide brimmed hat, probably a missionary because.......this type of book is invariably a sort of travelouge published by the Christians after their triunphant return. I'm not really selling this, am I? It's adorable, features a ventriloquist dummy and is a lovely shade of green, like autumn grass in the Serenghetti. Or something. oh, also? I added a couple hunddred books to the website this morning, tirelessly scanning late into the night, watching Angel in the basement with Crumpton. Do me a gigantic favor and, if you even SEE this do three things. 1) click on one of the feeling-buttons. I'm trying to work around the new restrictions and I feel unsure whether facebookland will still distribute this posts if I include a link in the body of the post. It would be wonderful if this works but I feel really unsure. 2) click on the image, what happens for you? 3) report what happens! ha! Does it take you to the book/journal itself? 4) Enjoy yourself and this incredible book. "Sally Goes to the Circus Alone" which......sounds terrifying, especially if she encountered this clown. Also? Today I feel pretty sure that the police would be called instantly if a young person showed as much agency and interest in the world as Sally here but.....that's another question. Also? It's always unhelpful to maintain opinions about......basically anything, so I'll drop it. It's cool and damp here, I wore my heavy duffle coat walking the doggies this morning. Birdie has retuned, with a terrible cold, and I feel like it's possible that I've contracted it. I'm resting in bed, with Mischka on my lap, listening to a book by John Ronson, who I really enjoy. It's dawned sunny and bright and warm here in Olympia, Washington, we ran errands out of the home and I threw away the gallon of costco chicken broth from the slow cooker that I turned off to cool, then forgot yesterday. A waste of electricity, alas. I can stop agonizing about the frozen bird carcasses crowding up the freezer, though. So: bright side!
Here's today's treasure, which in accordance of my pact with myself to blog on weekdays, I'm not entirely obliged to share, but....I'm just a very effective and hardworking person. (( I'm neither, it's bluster, like talking up your skill as a basketball player being a preamble to playing basketball ))
"the Matriarch" is a fine looking book and a better looking journal. I had my haircut the other day at the barber across the street, operated by a friendly, good natured woman from Mongolia. She's great and, if you're in Olympia and you have hair you should consider having her remove periodically a judiciously chosen quantity of it. I considered, in fantasy, becoming a barber and joining her until I realized that I don't get along with men.

G'muffins, everyone! And thank you for the very-encouraging greetings and genuine warmth yesterday. And: thank you, especially, to those nice people who were kind enough to browse around on my dummy website as well. I noticed you on the referral/ analytics logs and it warmed my heart just a little bit. Today? Facebook isn't permitting me to share images directly from my website anymore. Apparently I need to, somehow, authenticate that I own my website? Maybe I'm misunderstanding something. Anyway: I reached out to my Canadian/ Romanian genius and asked him to look into it.

Here's a beautiful book journal: "Locomotives on Parade" which you'll have to visit with the additional burden of clicking on the link that I'll post in the comments area, subsequent to typing whatever I'm about to type next. Line break
There was a giant quanset-hut thing in Astoria, near the waterfront and, inside the half circle, was a giant locomotive, or two? And piles of greasy tools and oily rags and.....limited fire protection. It opened once a year, during the summer festival, and one could tour the restoration facility, climb on the ancient engines and marvel at it all. They also grilled hamburgers and costco hotdogs at a coal burning grill located just inside the roll-by doors. There exists no railroad lines out of Astoria at this point, whatever happens.......I can't imagine that any engine, however restored, will ever feel the wind in it's hair. It felt a little like visiting a Nimitz class submarine in rural Iowa.
Do you know a train-spotter? Or someone that admires trains, generally? Someone that works for the single remaining rail-freight company. I liked the gag at the end of Parks and Recreation, a futuristic commercial for a company called "Chipotle Exxon Verizon" that was "proudly one of America's eight companies"
We're skipping the gym, Birdie is flying away to visit friends and family in Tennesee tomorrow and we're cherishing some time with the dogs and British detectives and those jalapeno puffer things that they're selling at Trader Joes.

Good morning! morning! morning! I've kinda been in despair-mode since.....November, and managing my feelings about social media world, trying to reconcile myself with the necessity of actually using this space, and others dominated by........Them. Anyway, today I make a tiny effort to preserve myself and participate and be present here again. Probably more explanation than anyone cares about but.......for those that watch this space, you might have expected as much.

Though I worry that the parameters and actions have likely changed since I was here last and clicking on the image probably delivers you to some internally managed Meta space rather than my actual website. I guess we'll see.
I made a list this morning, trying to manage myself a little more responsibly and take actions that help mitigate the......harms that my unmanaged mind creates. Meditation: done! Water: consumed! Supplements: swallowed! About to walk the puppies around the sunny neighborhood and listen to this silly podcast. Tortoise media group: A-plus! Also? A couple from Al-Jazeera podcasts. What are YOU listening to? How's your health? Your kidney? Are you sleeping well?

"This happened in the hills of Kentucky" recycled vintage book journal. Lovely, poison-green cover with gold lettering. I have no idea what happened in the hills of Ky. though. A clandestine distillery? top-secret horse breeding experiments? Radio laboratory? I just finished an audiobook "Agent Sonya" about an extraordinary soviet spy who served her principles for decades. It was.......a remarkable biography, actually. I don't typically go in for spy-stuff but it was excellent. Ursa has an appointment this morning at 10am at the vets, to receive her final confirmation dose of vaccine, she'll be permitted off the property for her FIRST WALK today! Eek! Birdie to be taken to the doctor for a follow up after her surgery for the broken ankle I haven't mentioned here before. (( she broke her little ankle rather badly descending the stairs exactly one month ago today. Poor dove. )) Click on this image right now and browse around on the website for holiday gifts? I've added several hundred "new" titles this morning so it's a decent time to visit for holiday gift-giving, tons of themes, lots of beautiful titles/ books. I guess most of us here in this venue have considerably fewer gift recipients this year but......perhaps doubling down on giving to quasi-strangers that you know you'd like to grow closer with is an idea? We're having a "atmospheric river" event here in the PNW, the winds are howling and the sky is delivering a prodigious payload of water to us here on the ground, my office is behind our new house, in a cute, janky garage (( I LOVE IT, though it's cold. Would you consider contributing to a "go fund me" for insulation? It's a thought I'm having )) and it's peaceful and still inside, while the storm rages inches away. How are you feeling out there? Nevermind that. Instead: what are YOU doing to care for yourself this week? Any routines you're returning to after falling off for a while? I started smoking again, briefly, but have given it up again.
