History of Olney Classy Crafts Market

The Olney Classy Crafts Market started in late summer of 2013 outside the Sandy Spring Museum in Sandy Spring, Maryland. The Museum was looking to attract more attention to its wonderful collection. The Market started with just a handful of crafters and a couple of food vendors. After several weeks, we realized the Crafters weren’t getting sufficient business

, so the Market opted to move to its current location, meeting alongside the Olney Farmers and Artists Market. The Classy Crafts Market is now located on the grounds of the Medstar Montgomery Hospital Thrift Shop on Route 108 and Prince Philip Drive in Olney, MD. It is an integral part of the Olney Farmers and Artists Market, but continues to be run separately, with different objectives and standards from the Olney Farmers group. Our goal is to keep on improving the quality of the Crafters and to continue to come up with creative ideas to make the Crafts Market successful. The Crafts Market is the brainchild of Bobbi Espinoza and Janet Terry. Bobbi is also Treasurer of the Farmers Market. And Janet is President and operates the Farmers and Artists Market as Market Master each Sunday in season. They consulted the Portland, Oregon Crafts Market, which is also located on the grounds of a Farmers Market. After struggling for years, the Portland Crafts Market is just as successful as or even more successful than the Portland Farmers Market. That is our goal in Olney!
