We had a stellar opening for Lauren Nguyen and Casey Beck’s a c c u m u l a t i o n s two weeks ago! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to this absolutely beautiful installation of ceramics. These pieces are saturated with the devotion, attention, experimentation, and rigor that Casey and Lauren invest in their days-long wood firings and soda firing. A great turn out and many pieces sold. The exhibit includes examples of wild clay they collected as far away as Milos, Greece, and as near as Nevada County. Many pieces in the show contain either slip or clay mixtures of these clays. We still have some vases, wine cups, plates, jugs, platters, and juglets available both in store and in the gallery.
Please reach out if you have any questions about the work. If you would like to see the exhibit on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (our closed days), we can make an appointment to open the gallery for you.

Margaret Tedesco was my friend! and neighbor when I had Gypsy Honeymoon on Valencia. She would stop by all the time on her bike, on her way to EVERYTHING, and list and tell and invite us to the art events around the city and the Mission. We bonded in having French girlfriends/partners.
I learned so much about art just by spending time with Margaret. She was generous, direct, honest, fierce!, fun!!, gorgeous, collaborative, gloriously q***r, intuitive, and so deliberate and dedicated to her processes in her own art practices and in her gallery 2nd Floor Projects. We had years of being same time same place, then I moved to Marin and we rarely saw each other but held big love nonetheless.

In her body. Poised dancer spine and dazzling smile. So health-forward. Inspiring and meticulous. Teaching through doing. Embodiment. A stunning practice of living.

Love you M. Thank you. Will miss you!!!! As someone else wrote about you, glad you are everywhere now. ✨✨✨🙌🏻🙏🏼✨✨✨

The weather should be🌞🌞🌞fingers crossed! We will be set up mostly outside, so bring a warm layer and enjoy (yum!) hot apple cider, apple cider doughnuts by Loba, and wine by Groundwater.

“At the intersection of art and craft, Julie Cloutier’s ceramic practice focuses both on functional wares and sculptural objects for the home. The TIMETABLE stoneware collection investigates her obsession with clay itself—rarely hiding the exterior with glaze, only showcasing the texture and tactility our hands are drawn to. Through physical acts of multiplying, rearranging, adding and subtracting, the work is rooted in the relationship between labor, production and value.

Photography has always been a quiet underlying framework to her process, slowly informing and confirming how she sees her immediate environment.
With her recent work in the darkroom, her intentional black & white film photographs focus on the ground, earth as constant inspiration and details that are commonly overlooked and overused.”

Thank you to everyone who came to the opening of Sherry Petrini’s Golden State. There was something stirring in the room that felt like spirits dancing. And the feet of beloveds walking through the door. Is there ever more than this to believe in?

I invite you to come see the show. We have many of Sherry’s oil paintings on palette paper for sale. These works are such gestures of inquiry and independence, funny and jagged, and flush with energy.

Tama One is so thrilled to invite you to the opening of Golden State, paintings by Marin artist Sherry Petrini, Saturday, July 19th from 3-6!

“When I paint the image, I don’t put any features on her face because the important part is how her torso has twisted and her arm has absorbed the strong swing. That felt good to paint. “Sympathetic joy” is what it might be called. My walking has been severely compromised since I was a child, but it has always been pleasurable for me to paint and draw.”

Angus Martin plays Brazilian songs on guitar and world music on accordion.
