Rivers End Tackle Fishing report 09/17/21

Stripers -
Its good, go. There have been willing fish in the River hitting flies and topwater plugs on the flats. There have also been fish along the shoreline both east and west of the CT River during times of low light. Hatchetts has had willing fish hitting diamond jigs. Long Sand Shoal has produced some fish on eels. We've also heard of schools of schoolie sized bass along the Waterford shoreline hitting small topwater plugs but they can be very finicky at times.

Bluefish -
They're mixed with the bass along the shoreline and at Hatchetts. We've also heard of good numbers of Blues in the Race hitting diamond jigs.

Fluke -
Quiet this week.

Seabass -
Very good, but different than the springtime fishing guys have gotten used to. it will take some precision. Hit pieces of structure in the middle of the sound.

Snappers-
Been good. try one of the DEEP Docks or the Causeway.

Albies-
We'd spoke to a guy who clobbered 'em at Montauk and we also heard about a slug of fish behind Plum Island. Are they still there? Also heard of them near Napatree Point. We just got in a large stock of Albie Snax in some neat new colors including a pale pink and white/amber color.

Fishing Report - 07/23/21

Bass-
Over the last few days, there have been some small fish in and around Niantic Bay and Black Point most mornings chasing bait on the surface. Locally, there have been a few fish caught along the shoreline on either side of the CT River during low light, and a few fish from both Hatchetts and Long Sand Shoal on Live Bunker in the mornings.

Bluefish
There have been some Choppers along the shoreline west of the CT River and at Cornfield Point, mostly chasing bunkers. There have also been some fish in Plum Gut and The Race.

Fluke-
No so great. There seems to be a few fish in most places, but nobody is killing 'em anywhere. This week we heard of a few fish from Misquamicut,, Black Point, Montauk, and Long Sand Shoal.

SeaBass-
Generally, good. The Spawn Run in the western end of the sound is over, and the fish have now spread into the whole sound. Wherever you are, there are seabass near you, but unlike the spawn run, you cant just make 3 mile drifts. You'll want to look for structure to get 'em. Look for at least 60 feet of water and search for wrecks, rockpiles, reefs, or muscle beds etc.

Porgies-
Another bright spot. It has been good at, but not restricted to, Barletts, BlackPoint, Hatchetts, and Cranes reefs.

Blue Crabs-
Sounds pretty good in the CT River, go get em!
