CARP ON THE FLY! 🎣

The “Z-man” got it done!

Zach Ball tricked this super nice Carp on the fly—and if you haven’t started fly fishing for Carp, you need to start.

Carp are an exceptional target for the fly angler. They’re smart, spooky, powerful, and often incredibly picky. They demand stealth, accurate presentations, good line management, and patience. In other words, fly fishing for Carp will level-up your fly fishing skills.

And one of the best parts? Some outstanding Carp fishing may be a whole lot closer than you think - your neighborhood pond, urban creeks, and local rivers - they’re everywhere…

If you’re just getting started—or you want to improve your Carp game—drop by the Fly Shop. Let’s talk locations, flies, leaders, presentations, and strategies for putting more Carp in the net.

Expand your fly fishing skills. Challenge yourself. Chase Carp.

Nice work, Zach! 👍🏾

Sunday Celebration of Success 🎉🎣

This week, we celebrate Cheri Ritchie, who put an absolutely gorgeous Little Red River brown trout in the net!

Cheri was fishing the Little Red in north-central Arkansas below Greers Ferry Dam near Heber Springs—a legendary tailwater that once produced the 40-pound, 4-ounce world-record brown trout. So when you fish the Little Red, you always know there’s a chance that something really big is lurking beneath the surface.

And Cheri certainly found a good one!

Cheri is an exceptional fly angler—just like her husband, Tim, who recently returned from an exceptionally productive fly-fishing trip to Alaska (hosted by the Fly Shop). Apparently, the Ritchie household is having a pretty good summer with a fly rod in hand! 😎

Under the expert guidance of Beau Saunders of Beau’s Guide Service, Cheri got it done—and this beautiful brown is the result.

Great fish. Great angler. Great guide.

Congratulations, Cheri! That is one impressive Little Red brown and a fish worthy of this week’s Sunday Celebration of Success!

“Git sum!”

Sunday Celebration of Success

This week, let’s celebrate Ethan Lovelace, pictured here with his lovely wife, Deana.

Recently, Ethan was honored by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation as the Fisheries Professional of the Year—a well-deserved recognition for someone who has devoted his career to protecting and improving Oklahoma’s fisheries.

As the Manager of the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area, Ethan is one of those professionals working behind the scenes so thousands of anglers can enjoy healthy fisheries year after year. It’s a job that often goes unnoticed, but it’s one that benefits every one of us who loves being on the water.

Now…before you think Ethan is all business…

There’s also “Vacation Ethan.”

On a recent fly-fishing trip to the Baja Peninsula chasing roosterfish and dorado, Ethan unveiled what may go down as one of the boldest fishing outfits ever worn by a fly angler. Let’s just say…it takes a special kind of confidence to pull off that shirt. 😂

The good news? The roosterfish and dorado didn’t seem to care.

His fishing buddies, however…well…they’re probably still recovering.

Congratulations, Ethan, on being named ODWC Fisheries Professional of the Year. Your passion for conservation, your professionalism, and yes…your willingness to keep everyone laughing make you exactly the kind of person we’re proud to celebrate.

And Ethan…we’re all very thankful you chose the other outfit for the awards ceremony. 🤣

Our Sunday Celebration of Success is about more than the fish. It’s about celebrating the remarkable people who make our fly-fishing community such a great place to belong.

Some flies catch fish. Some catch smiles. 😊

This awesome sketch was drawn by Koda Onstot, who—along with Dan, Caroline, Daniel, and Ryan—helped prepare the incredible vittles that fueled everyone at this year’s Carp-Ageddon.

Now Koda has left another mark on the Fly Shop. His fly drawing is proudly on display for our fly fishing community to enjoy, and we think it captures something special about what this place is all about.

The Fly Shop isn’t just about rods, reels, and flies. It’s about the people who make this community what it is. Whether you’re tying flies, cooking for hungry anglers, teaching a new caster, or sharing your artwork, everyone has something to contribute.

Thanks, Koda, for sharing your talent with all of us. We love it!

“Providing every fly angler with the resources to achieve success on the water”… and building a community worth being part of.

🎉 Sunday Celebration of Success 🎉

This week we’re celebrating Russell Isaacs, owner of Isaacs Farms near Turpin, Oklahoma, who recently landed an absolute stud of a Brown Trout on the legendary White River below Bull Shoals Dam.

If you’ve spent much time around Russell, you already know this wasn’t luck—it was the reward for someone who loves the White River and keeps going back. In fact, he loves it so much that he bought a place there so he could spend even more time chasing those incredible browns.

That’s one of the things we love most about fly fishing. A river has a way of getting into your heart. What starts as “just another fishing trip” often becomes a lifelong pursuit, drawing you back season after season. The White River has certainly done that for Russell.

Congratulations on an incredible fish, Russell! Thank you for being part of this amazing community of fly anglers who remind us that success isn’t just measured in inches—it’s measured in the adventures we pursue, the friendships we build, and the places that keep calling us back.

Now it’s your turn… What river keeps calling you back? Drop it in the comments below—we’d love to hear about the water that’s captured your heart.
