Proper tailoring is far more important than many of us realize. Great tailors are hard to find. Like many artisan trades there are few people coming along who want to learn to do the work. A skilled fitter and tailor can make a less expensive suit look acceptable but conversely poor fit can make an expensive suit look inferior.

It drives me nuts when I watch a movie or television and see jacket collars that stand away from the neck, improper sleeve length or trousers too long. I see the same thing in everyday life but assume the wearer hasn’t been educated on proper fit. That said, actors or wardrobe designers should know better and have the resources to make things fit properly.

We might appear “pricey” but when you consider the expertise of decades advising on proper fit, master tailors working on the clothing (included in our price I might add) and the world’s finest cloth being crafted in 100+ year old US shops….It’s a value.

“Made in America” or “The American Dream” may sound trite or trendy but both are alive and well. Can a kid from West Virginia have his own brand, design and create beautiful clothes for great clients who become friends, see more of the world than he ever dreamed and have a beautiful family? Yes it happened for me and I see it and live it through others EVERY day.
Can I make products with American makers from woolen cloth, shearling, leather and woven cottons sourced from American farmers and ranchers? Yes I can and do. Thank you to those who are striving to produce here at home and those who support them. In 1974 92% of the apparel bought and worn in America was made here. Today it’s roughly 2%. Some of that due to policy, greed and decline in quality but most of it due to our indifference and disloyalty as consumers.
Dream big folks and don’t forget those who have fought to protect that American dream, Freedom and Liberty. That dream and this country came from the strife of our forebears who came from somewhere else. Different races, different origins, different religions, different hardships but all with a desire for a better life and a belief in a Higher Power. Let’s not tear down a beautiful thing over the desire to give everyone a participation trophy.

Last road trip of 2025. Chicago, New York, Hyannis Port and leaving Boston headed home for the holidays. A successful trip of seeing new and repeat clients, successful fittings and deliveries, visiting with great friends. Life is good and I am fortunate. Happy Holidays Y’all!

A day in the life….As the saying goes, “ If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”. I’m grateful every day for that. I had great influences all along the way who shared a passion for this business and I love you for it. My family instilled a work ethic, my employers and mentors taught me about a world beyond my immediate surroundings and my clients taught me to put them first. My friends and mentors in recovery taught me that there was a God and I wasn’t it! Thank you to all, I am humbled everyday by all of you.

It’s rewarding seeing client’s orders arrive as they are the realization of a vision. Even better is seeing them on our clients when they are celebrating special events or traveling. While we are sometimes fortunate enough to be with them, it’s often through their photos and messages. It’s sort of like we are accompanying them in their pocket!
