Today, I drove to Wrightsville Beach to participate in my second Art and the Bloom floral competition, put on by the New Hanover Garden Club. Just like last year, each designer was assigned a work of art to serve as inspiration, and I was given a lovely watercolor of an Italian scene.
I was lucky enough to place 2nd this year! Here's my entry...

And the people stayed home.

And they read books, and listened, and rested, and exercised, and made art, and played games, and learned new ways of being, and were still.

And they listened more deeply. Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows. And the people began to think differently.

And the people healed.

And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.

And when the danger passed, and the people joined together again, they grieved their losses, and made new choices, and dreamed new images, and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully, as they had been healed.

I so enjoyed participating in the 3rd annual New Hanover Garden Club’s Art and the Bloom event, which included a competition for floral designers to create arrangements inspired by an assigned work of art by local artists. Met some wonderfully creative people and saw an old friend from Raleigh (she placed third!) My installation is included in the attached photos from Wilmington’s Star News.

The 3rd annual event is organized by the New Hanover Garden Club and concludes on Sunday

Holiday weekend wedding! This Thanksgiving was even more special than usual, as the daughter of dear family friends got married at Adaumont Farm in Trinity, NC and Mike and I were honored to be asked to provide the florals...
Love, love, love when the bride and MOB have ideas *and* are open to my interpretations of those ideas! Great collaboration!
Best part of all: becoming more acquainted with Pat Wheeler, who spent hours of her weekend volunteering her time and talents to help pull this all off! Thanks, Pat!

We were invited back to High Point to fall Furniture Market, again providing floral design for the Rowe Furniture showroom. Lots of simple greens and tropicals this time. As always, Mike was my rock and we celebrated a long, hard day with Kepley’s BBQ.

The Fall furniture market kicks off this week, despite Hurricane Michael plowing through the middle of North Carolina. Our work day was interrupted by a power outage that forced us to work by phone light then by buffet lights courtesy of the chef. Two tornadoes touched down nearby, all while we were working our tales off in the back of the Rowe Furniture showroom. The results of our 11-hour day are below. I love this semi-annual job!
As always, I couldn’t do it without my own Hurricane Michael!😘

As our daughter has already celebrated her fourth anniversary and is expecting her first child (our first grandchild!), my husband reminded me that I haven't posted any pictures from her wedding, which took place on our deck overlooking Little Field Slough in Ocean Isle Beach. I've enjoyed looking through the photos all over again! Enjoy!

One of a pair of vases I created to celebrate All Saints Day at the church in which I grew up. Celebrating the lives of members who have died in the past year, including my father. A nice morning with family and old and new friends.

Another successful Furniture Market in High Point! The flowers arrived a day later than ordered but we made it work. The client wanted lots of orchids, roses and lilies. Mike, once again, was the hardest working of the two of us. Couldn't do it without him!
