Day 1 of Riverfest is complete!! Here’s our lineup for Day 2/Sunday

11:00-1:00: Young adult author Christina June, featuring her fabulous contemporary takes on three classic fairy tales. These books have HEART.

1:00-3:00, with story times at 1:30 and 2:30: Marcie Flinchum Atkins, featuring her brand-new picture book When Twilight Comes, and her incredible young adult novel One Step Forward, about a teen suffragist imprisoned at Workhouse.

3:00-5:00: Young adult author Alex Travis, featuring her intense novel The Payback Girls, a sapphic “John Tucker Must Die” that will keep you reading long after bedtime.

We also have signed books in store by our Saturday authors, Ann Marie Stephens, Anna Bright, and Celeste Dador!

Last but not least, our buddy Kristin from .young.occoquan will be offering Fairy Hair from 10-2!!

Come on in to Cozy Calico and meet these FABULOUS authors, add a little fairy sparkle, and cool off in the A/C. We can’t wait to see you! 😻

Here’s our Saturday Riverfest lineup!

11:00-1:00: Ann Marie Stephens, with story times at 11:30 and 12:30, featuring her adorable (and educational!) picture book SCATTERED (cats and math ftw!). I hear she’s also bringing an “estimation station” activity for her young listeners!

1:00-3:00: Anna Bright, meet and greet featuring her gorgeously written cottagecore young adult fantasy THE HEDGEWITH OF FOXHALL (and maybe we can convince her to give us tidbits on her summer release WINGS OF REVERIE 👀).

3:00-5:00: Celeste Dador, meet and greet featuring her summery, romantic, brand-new release STARS, STRIPES & SUMMER NIGHTS. I’m here for the summer bucket list, Independence Day backdrop, and the small VA town setting that sounds an awwwwful lot like Occoquan. 😉

Here’s our complete Riverfest lineup all in one place! Each author will be hanging out for two hours. In addition, each day we will have two story times in store:
Saturday at 11:30am and 12:30pm
Sunday at 1:30pm and 2:30pm
Please bring your kiddos in for a break from the heat. This is an awesome opportunity to meet a real author and hear them read their books!

Riverfest is in ONE WEEK!!! And boy do we have an INCREDIBLE lineup of young adult and kids’ authors coming to hang with us!! Stop by our booth and store to meet these incredible ladies and learn more about their books. We will also have two story times each day for your kiddos (these will be IN STORE, IN A/C if you need a break from the heat!).

The votes are in! Our next book for the Eat Well Live Well Book Club will be "Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain" by John J. Ratey. We will discuss this book on Monday, July 13 at 6:30pm. You can join the discussion at AIM or on Zoom from anywhere!

If you are interested in obtaining a hard copy of this book and would like to support the new local bookstore, Cozy Calico Books please let us know by Wednesday before we place an order.
