I'm very excited to be roasting cacao from Upala, Costa Rica for the first time since January of last year! Due to the craziness of the cacao market over the past couple years, we weren't able to get this cacao through all of 2025.
We have a long history with this cacao. Our very first bars made back in 2010 were made with cacao from Upala, and we've been importing them direct from since 2012 or so.
I've really missed the bars made with this cacao--our Upala 70% and 85% bars--and am really excited to have them back. They're really unlike any other bar that I've tried.
I'm hoping to have some of each available at the DC Chocolate Festival this weekend! See for more festival info, tickets, etc.
