I'm very excited to be roasting cacao from Upala, Costa Rica for the first time since January of last year! Due to the craziness of the cacao market over the past couple years, we weren't able to get this cacao through all of 2025.

We have a long history with this cacao. Our very first bars made back in 2010 were made with cacao from Upala, and we've been importing them direct from since 2012 or so.

I've really missed the bars made with this cacao--our Upala 70% and 85% bars--and am really excited to have them back. They're really unlike any other bar that I've tried.

I'm hoping to have some of each available at the DC Chocolate Festival this weekend! See for more festival info, tickets, etc.

This Saturday is the semi-annual Swords, Brooms, and Magical Beasts event here in Occoquan! More businesses than ever are participating with special products, events, tastings, and more!

For it, we're bringing back our limited-edition bars with popping candy and adding a new one!

First up are two 'Prestidigitation' bars (named after the cantrip spell in DnD). The original white chocolate with strawberry popping candy is joined by our new milk chocolate bar with pineapple popping candy.

Lastly is our newly-renamed 'Aganazzar's Scorcher' which is a dark chocolate, spiced with cinnamon and aleppo chili pepper, with spicy popping candy.

Stop by on Saturday to pick some up! If there are any left after Saturday, they'll be available in our shop and we'll put them up on the website in case anyone else is interested in trying them.

We're excited to be part of the Chick's Picks Holiday Market again this year!

For those who don't know, Chick's Picks is a huge holiday market that's been happening for over 20 years. Every year, Hilary and her team curate a great selection of local artists and makers, including us and a few of our friends here in Occoquan ( , , and ). It's really a one stop shop for all of your gifting needs, with everything from clothing, home decor, to food and more!

Our table is stocked with a selection of our chocolate bars, drinking chocolate, peppermint bark, and chocolate-covered nuts!

This Saturday is the Dominion Hills Fall Craft Show! This is a great small craft show that I've done for many years now and I'm excited to be back! It's a highly-curated show with some great artists and crafters, including hand-carved prints, jewelry, wood crafts, pottery & more. I end up buying at least one piece of art every year.

I'll be there with chocolate bars, drinking chocolate, and chocolate covered nuts and coffee beans!

So if you're in the Arlington, VA area, stop by and check it out! It's at the Dominion Hills Recreation Association Community Center at 6000 Wilson Blvd from 10-5.

Occoquan's big Fall Arts and Crafts Show is this weekend!! This is a huge event here in Occoquan with over 300 artists, crafters, and other vendors.

We'll be open throughout the show with all of our handcrafted chocolate bars, bonbons, fresh-churned gelato and more! (Our little pizza pop-up will also be open selling fresh-baked pizzas!)

It's free to attend, (there is a shuttle fee if you take advantage of the shuttle service, but you can walk from the parking lot at 123 and Old Bridge).

This Sunday, August 10th, is the Swords, Brooms, and Magical Beasts event here in Occoquan. There will be a bunch of fun events, classes, demos, and sales, including tarot readings, a Magical Mystical market, make your own art, tea sampling, ghost tour, and more!

This is our second time taking part in it, and this time we're doing a couple of fun, limited edition chocolate bars with popping candy in them.

The first one is called Prestidigitation (named after the DnD spell), and is white chocolate with strawberry popping candy.

The second one is called Dark Magic, and is our spicy chocolate (spiced with cinnamon and chili pepper) with popping candy.

Our little pizza pop-up, , is also taking part with a pizza special and themed pizza boxes.

As you may know, we've hosted a few concerts in the chocolate factory over the past couple years. And we've got another one coming up soon!

Wonderlick is a band made up of two guys from one of my all-time favorite bands, Too Much Joy (you may remember their big hit 'Crush Story' from the 90s). They'll be playing an intimate, mostly-acoustic concert on Tuesday, August 12th. Tickets are available at the link in the bio.

I've previously hinted at a few new bars coming out. The first one was the El Salvador bar we released a few weeks ago. This one is the second, and I've got at least two more that should be ready soon!

Today, I'm excited to announce our Kilombero Valley, Tanzania 80% Limited Edition dark chocolate bar!

I've had a lot of great chocolate bars made with this cacao and I'm really excited to be working with it! I got my hands on a small quantity of this cacao from a chocolate maker friend who was closing up shop. In working with it, I've found that it really shines at a higher cacao percentage. So, while I will often go with something around 70%, we're making this one at 80%.

This cacao is from Kokoa Kamili, based in the Udzungwa Mountains National Park. They buy 'wet' cacao from a collection of over 5,000 smallholder farms, and then expertly ferments and dries it, producing a high quality cacao with consistently great flavor.

Despite being 80%, this fruitiness of this bar makes it taste sweeter than it really is. I get a strong cherry note with a honey sweetness, before it finished with a little citrus-y acidity.

This is currently available in our shop in Occoquan and our online shop (link in bio). I hope you enjoy it!

RiverFest and Craft Show is this weekend! This is one of the biggest events we hold here in Occoquan. Over 250 vendors will line the streets with all sorts of art, crafts, jewelry, food, and more! There's also fun stuff to do, like the Butterfly Experience, live music, the Duck Splash, Conservation Alley, and a bunch more.

We'll, of course, be open throughout selling our chocolate bars, gelato, and more! We'll even have complimentary insulated bags to protect your chocolate from the warm weather.

RiverFest is this Friday and Saturday, June 7 & 8 from 10a-5p. See for more info, including where to park, shuttle info, the schedule of events, etc.
