Different materials will give different results but we specialize in wooden paddles so that’s our focus.

Paddles come in a variety of sizes. We have two main sizes — 12” and 18”

It’s also important to know that wood is not always the same weight from piece to piece but it has a range. We expect Black Limba to be lightweight and for Wenge to be heavy.

In our experience, if you want sting:
•7 ounces or less for 12” paddle
•10 ounces or less for 18” paddle

If you want thud:
• 8 ounces or more for 12” paddle
•11 ounces or more for 18” paddle

Paddles that are 7-8 ounces usually give you both sting and thud.
