I’ll be the first to admit - I’m not an expert, and I can’t predict markets like some of the soothsayer accounts on here.

But, I think, I understand business on a micro level.

Not all, but a lot of my local shops, we’re buying hand over fist at sometimes jaw-dropping discounts. If you wanted to buy anything from them, they were charging some hefty premiums as well.

They were winning on every side of the deal.

The narrative was no one wanted to catch the falling knife. Volatility had them spooked.

I get that.

That’s the risk a lot of us assume as stackers, or as investors in general.

My issue is - not everyone is just selling.

There’s plenty of buyers.

Refiners aren’t the only place to sell, but when you’re grabbing commodities at a ridiculous discount and snapping up more capital to buy by charging insane premiums on those same commodities, so you can rinse and repeat by stuffing refineries, rather than servicing clients…

Well, you reap what you sow.

In a market where no one wants to lose, almost everyone does, except a few.

I hope a lot of these shops are still around in a few months.

One place I called, sounded like they were on the verge of tears.

Today, I called one of, maybe the big shop here in the city.

I was quoted $15 back of spot to sell ASE’s…

They wouldn’t even tell me over the phone what I could buy ASE’s for - I had to come in for a price quote.

The problem with this closed-end type market is no one is willing to lose…

Here’s some symptoms to look for in such a market

Leverage hazard / Amplified volatility

Discount widening / NAV divergence

Liquidity crunch / Exit risk

Capital erosion / Principal loss

Income volatility / Distribution risk

I don’t think the bearish folks are calling this right.

What do you think?
