We are so grateful for the amazing support from Oaklandish - the first store to carry our products. In addition to giving our goods a home, they have provided us with invaluable small business coaching that has helped our brand grow.
Jenna, the founder of Lazy Lotus, is a self-described ponytail and 3-minute makeup kind of girl. To add to her outfits, she used her sewing skills and eye for color and pattern to make first one scarf, then another, and another. Before long, she had orders coming in and was dedicating all of her time to getting her scarves made and out the door.
When Jenna wanted to add to her scarves, she had her old college roommate, Katie, join her team. Katie manages the earring line and has been a key part in helping to create their brand. Lazy Lotus is made here in Oakland, CA. They make things in their houses, on the bus, outside in the sun with a beverage in hand, on road trips, and really whenever & wherever possible. They’re always creating, and everything is handmade.
For all the scarves Jenna and Katie use scraps & remnants and re-purpose them into one-of-a-kind goodies. This not only reduces fabric waste and recycles what would be thrown out, but also ensures that the products are as unique as possible. The earrings all have surgical steel posts for sensitive ears. Many of the cotton fabrics used for the earrings are organic.
