HOWDY Y'ALL!!!
To say it's been a while is an understatement. Sometimes things can come out of no where! Why? Ecclesiastes 9:11 tells us, β€œTime and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.” sometimes things just happen, not due to any foreseeing of a person’s life, but due to chance we may become a victim of some unfortunate circumstance). I think a major heart attack was definitely an unforeseen event. Jeff still has a lot of recovery to do. His heart is still weak but he really is getting so much better. I'm beyond thankful and grateful for ALL of y'all's support. Emotionally, financially, physically, and spiritually. If I can help others in return I most certainly will. Thank you all so much!
NOW....TIME TO OPEN AND MOVE ON FROM HERE....😁
If you need anything please reach out.
All our love and appreciation,
Kay and Jeff

Most recent updates---
March 22nd
Jeff is slowly getting better. No 'episode's today, so that's awesome! Syncope is something he will learn to live with for now. The hope is that as his heart gets stronger these episodes will subside. It's only happened when he coughs. Dr. said he probably wouldn't die from the syncope but he could from the fall if he passes out while standing. So now he has to sit down when he feels a cough coming on.
We've been waiting a couple of days to go up to the 3rd floor and out of ICU/CCU. Insurance approved for rehab so he was released from the hospital instead, YAY!!!, and transferred to the Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital.

One step closer to home. YAY! πŸ₯Ή
There's even a bed here for me in the same room. πŸ₯±πŸ˜Š
Lots of love,
Kay and Jeff ❀️

March 19th pacemaker and defibulator surgery was a success. They were getting ready to move dad to a step down room until he started having his episodes again. These episodes have been said to be vaguling. They are coming often. And usually at night. Our short term goal is to get released from the CCU and bumped to floor 3, after figuring out what is the solution for his episodes. He's been able to take some walks and get out of bed so those are positives.
Our long term outlook at this point is after he gets released from the hospital he will go into a rehab facility for 30 days at least to help build up his strength.
As of March 21st mom and Dad will have been in the hospital for a month! Your donations have helped tremendously. The shop is still closed. Mom's still unable to work. So all help is greatly appreciated. ❀️
March 9th ending part of the day to today March 12th.
March 9th was a roller coaster. At one point we lost Jeff for about 3-4 minutes. They were able to bring him back and during that time, no oxygen loss to the brain occurred so he's still all there (or well what has always been πŸ˜‚ sorry for the dad joke but it's how we are together) they thought he was having seizures and there was about 6 of them had that day with the worst of them being the final one, when they put him on life support. He had a 20 minute EEG done and a 24hr EEG done. The results turned up that there's nothing relating to seizures. So the doctors are leaning more to vaguels in the heart.
March 10th they took him off life support and he was doing well breathing on his own. So that continued. And we spent all day in his room per his nurses request. She was afraid of ICU Delirium setting in.
March 11th- he got to sit up in his chair for a little longer than he wanted. But he handled it good! He ate, drank, and was happy. And started some lasix between here and the previous day. This day he got a liter of fluids off.
March 12th- we are happy with the progress today. He's reduced his fluid in his body by about 3 liters today! His doctor that did the surgery came by and told him to keep up healing. He's finally got his temp under 98.7( it's been around 99.4⁰) he's been cracking dad jokes and making the nurses laugh. It's good to see him giggling again. We still aren't out of the woods. So caution is still in practice. Thank you everyone for your generosity and donations. If anyone else would like to send anything, feel free to message. Thank you!
***Visitors are welcome unless stated otherwise. Dad doesn't need people coming in that he met once in his life in a parking lot and said a few words to. People who have been there and have loved him and have always had his best interest at heart are welcome. If there are any questions about visiting, feel free to reach out to Candice Renee Perry or Caleb Perry or Kristina Jeanette- we can all help you out with any questions

March 15th update** dad will have a pacemaker defibrillator installed tomorrow the 16th. He's had one too many episodes and the doctor thinks this is the best route. He has had a good week until things went hay wire today the 15th.

Here's a message from Mom--
We're doing ok. He's finally getting back some of his appetite. He's starting to ask for certain foods which are good. Other foods make him nauseous. He's very sensitive to certain odors. He just has a long road of recovery. He's still on a pacer and he does have fluid around the heart still so they're working on getting that off. We are hoping for a smooth day. So far it's been good. We hope you all have an amazing day. Big hugs!!!
Much love to you all. Jeff & Kay πŸ₯°πŸ€—πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸŒΉ

**Update March 9th and 8th- Jeff has been in AFib since Friday. The 8th was a decent day for him and was looking up until this morning the 9th. He had 2 seizures this morning. His sugars were around 400. And they determined he was in diabetic ketoacidosis. They took him back to do a CT to see if he had a stroke. So we are waiting on those results as well. For further information see the other posts we have made. Dr Counce has been nothing short of amazing and the nurses have been as well. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ήβ€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή
So I just wanted to put this out there because so many different ones have asked. Right now, there's not much anyone can do to help. The true help that can be extended is through donations for Mom to continue to be at the hospital with Dad. Her income from the shop pays most the bills and with her being with Dad, it's not possible for her to work. Dad's condition changes often, one minute he's okay and the next he isn't. It's more than necessary for her to be there. There are so many that have messaged asking how they can help or where donations can go and the outpouring of love and generosity is amazing and appreciated. The less things Dad has to worry about the better and more he can rest. Y'all are amazing and mom and dad are beyond grateful and thankful. I'm not setting up a gofundme, but funds can be sent to either my cashapp $CPerry575 (mom has my debit card for it/direct access to all those funds (I go over to see Dad and Mom every night), Mom's cashapp, or my Venmo, or even PayPal. We appreciate everyone who does help. Dad has been read all the comments from Mom as well. If you have any questions feel free to ask or any sorts. Here are some pictures from the beginning of the week or you can drop off donations to Bank of 1889 or Anstaff and they will get the funds added to their account or my account. Thanks guys! *****Update for March 7th--over night was rough for dad. He is being paced due to AFib. His blood pressure is having to be controlled with epinephrine to bring it up because it's so low. They are slowly weening him off of it. We are looking at roughly 3 more days in the CCU and another 4 days in the step down unit. His platelets are around 262 as of this morning and his red blood cell count is 3.07 and normal is 4.1. Everything is improving just taking some time. Mom isn't able to stay in the room with him anymore, not until the step down room. So we were extremely thankful when she was donated a hotel room right around the corner from the hospital. ❀️ We learned the hard way that the ICU waiting room floor is extremely hard to sleep on. We are extremely thankful for everyone who has helped along this journey. The nurses have been great. And Dr Counts is an amazing doctor. This all said, I'll continue to update each day as we go. ❀️

UPDATE for March 6th: After last night's surgery the doctor informed us they did indeed do a quadruple bypass. Also put in a clip to help avoid any plaque breaking off at a later time. Dad is in his ICU/CCU room and is alert and talking to us this morning! He is such a strong man and is beating all the odds ❀️ He will have a stay of approximately 10 days. 3 or 4 of those days in ICU/CCU. He is limited to only 2 Visitors at a time for the time being. His surgeon and all of his nurses and Doctors that have cared for him have been nothing short of amazing. Today makes 11 days in the hospital and he's got several more to come but we are so thankful he is in the best hands he could possibly be in. Thank you to everyone that has helped out big or small. You all matter to us and have been such a huge help. We all appreciate everything more than you know! πŸ’•

Hey guys, Candice here today!
****Update #5--- Surgery complete! He's in his ICU room for about 40 minutes! We have 24 hours of critical time but they said he will be watched like a hawk in the ICU. We are looking at, at least 6 days in recovery.
***Update #4- they took him back for surgery around 2pm.
**Update #3-- dad's numbers came up to 251 so surgery is on for early afternoon. #2 update-- his numbers are not as high in the platelet count as the doctor wants so surgery has been postponed until tomorrow. #1 Update on dad-- Dr has pre-op set for 5am in the morning. Surgery to start at 7 if his platelets are at 250 or close to that. If not then surgery will be Thursday instead.** So I just wanted to put this out there because so many different ones have asked. March 4th
#2 update: Jeffs platelets are not what the doctor needed them to be this morning for the surgery so it's pushed back until tomorrow.
March 3rd
#1 UPDATE: Jeff's platelets have increased so that is good news. His Dr is very confident to move forward with surgery. It will start at 7am in the morning, Wednesday, March 4th. I can't even begin to tell y'all how thankful I am and how much we have been encouraged from y'all.
Hello my friends,
It is with a very heavy heart that
I've been debating whether to post or not to post. Posting won out.
As you see in the picture my wonderful loving hubby is in the hospital and it is scary and filled with uncertainty.
This all started last weekend. He wasn't feeling so good. We thought maybe his walking pneumonia from 3 weeks ago had resurfaced. I took him to his Dr for a follow up but the X-rays came back negative. But because of his breathing becoming labored when walking about 10 yards I knew something wasn't quite right and took him to the hospital in Fayetteville Arkansas to the ER. They took him back and started doing X-rays and ran a blood panel. Our normal tarponon, an enzyme in our blood that helps to detect a heart attack, was at 1500! Normal is only 100. Drs were shocked he had no pain in his chest or any other symptoms. Jeff had suffered a significant heart attack. Devastating! They scheduled him for an eco gram and an ultrasound.
Results: 3 of his 4 arteries are 100% blocked and the 4th one is 75% blocked along with several other blockages. SHOCKED is an understatement. Problem: His heart is too weak for the triple bypass that he HAS to have or he will die.
Plan of action: get the fluid off his heart and give erythropoietin to build his blood platelets up so he will be stronger for the surgery.
Complications: Jeff passed out today and went completely unconscious in my arms. They called a code blue and the staff responded like nothing I've ever seen before. I thought it was all over and that he had passed away. But for what felt like forever he coughed 3 times and after the 4th cough that was very deep and almost like a shock to his heart he looked up at me and said, "what happened?". Whew! He was back with us. The nurses started asking him questions and one by one Jeff answers them all correctly. Thank goodness! All I could think was, "no stroke thank goodness". After running test again, no heart attack and no stroke. Whew! His cardio team said he would die if he had to have surgery right now so he is on strict bed rest here in the hospital trying to get more fluid off his heart to give him a better chance to make it through the bypasses. They are doing an echo gram Monday to determine if surgery will be done asap or if we can hold off for 2 weeks to build up his hearts strength and then do the surgery. Updates to follow testing on Monday.
Long story short? My shop is now closed temporarily and any packages needing to be mailed is going to have to be delayed. I apologize and I hope you will understand. I do have a few pieces I've made recently that I will be auctioning and or do a donation drawing to help raise a little money that can help get us through this incredibly difficult time. Our world has come to a complete stop but the bills keep rolling in.
I will keep this post updated so if you want to know how he is doing feel free to comment or message me. I will return all messages as quickly as I can.
We thank each and every one of you for your love and continued support.
Sincerely,
Kay Mavis-Jones and family
