After more than 11 years, 40K Cycles has closed its doors.

This is a hard post to write. When I opened the shop, I never imagined how much it would come to mean to me — and to so many others. What started as a bike shop quickly became something bigger: a place where friendships formed, miles were shared, races were launched, and a community grew.

I’ve had a front-row seat to first rides, first races, big wins, tough days, and countless conversations that started with bikes but were really about life. Watching people discover cycling, push their limits, and build lasting friendships has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

To everyone who walked through those doors — customers, teammates, employees, and friends — thank you. Your support, loyalty, and enthusiasm made 40K Cycles what it was.

While the shop itself is now part of the past, the memories, the rides, and the community will always be something I carry with me.

It’s been an incredible ride.

Amazon eBike: great deal or ticking time bomb? 💣🚲

We’ve seen some ‘interesting’ things come through the door at 40K Cycles. We love good deals too, but some bargain eBikes just aren’t built to last — and for safety’s sake, we sometimes have to pass.

So tell us… did your budget eBike ride like a dream or turn into a DIY project?

A Colorado man said his online e‑bike purchase turned into a repair nightmare. Local shops said that safety concerns, scarce parts, and warranty issues mean many won’t touch direct-to-consumer brands.
