Want to try your hand at lotion bars? Lotion bars are basically. 1 part butters 1 part oils
and 1 part wax. You can use a variety of butters and oils together or you can be as simple as shea butter, sweet almond oil and beeswax ..the choices are infinite!

To make the bars measure your ingredients. A good scale is a must. Measuring ingredients by weight and not by cup/tbsp etc gives a more accurate ratio. In a double boiler melt the wax and butters. I use a large glass measuring cup set in a pot of water. Depending on the fragility of the oil you can add in the oil in the beginning or wait until the wax and butter(s) are melted and then blend the oil in. If using essential oils, use no more than 2 percent of your weight in essential oil. For example, for 12 ounces of product start with 1 percent or .12 oz (point 12) and use no more than .24 oz. Wait until you can comfortably keep your hands on the glass that contains the melted butter/wax/oil before adding the essential oils. Too high a temperature will affect both the fragrance and the benefits of the essential oil. If using matcha powder, I find it easier to blend it during the melting process.

Matcha Grapefruit lotion bars:
2 ounces shea
1 ounce kokum
1 ounce cupcua
2 ounces h**p
2 ounces avocado
4 oz beeswax
3 tsp matcha powder
Grapefruit eo

In addition, herbal infused oils such as calendula, rosemary, lavender, and when in season, purple nettle, dandelion and plantain are used for their healing, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Some of our ingredient descriptions are as follows:
Sunflower oil is a wonderful emollient, helping to keep the skin soft and well moisturized. It relieves, soothes and helps heal skin irritation and inflammation. It also helps prevent skin infections!! Sunflower oil is a source of essential fatty acids which have properties to protect the skin from bacterial infection, making an effective barrier against germs and bacteria. Sunflower oil is rich in linoleic acid. Linoleic acid helps to maintain the skin's natural barrier, supporting its ability to retain moisture. It has an anti-inflammatory effect when used topically and is beneficial for dry chapped skin.
Lavender is a wonder herb. Some quick benefits:
* Relieves anxiety
* Antifungal--a study published in The Journal of Medical Microbiology found that

* Reduces inflammation
* Can relieve headaches
* Rich in antioxidants
* Speeds up wound healing

Violet oil has been proven to aid insomnia.
"The results also showed that the Violet oil had the most effect among the three groups. In addition, it was more effective on sleep quality than sleep quantity.
Conclusion: Considering the effects of natural nasal drug on the improvement of sleep quality in insomniac patients, this study has proposed the use of Violet oil as a natural and herbal drug in a non-oral method without serious side effects for treatment of insomnia."

Rosemary is a favorite perennial herb and can be used as a culinary herb, consumed as a tea, incorporated into homemade cleansers, and is a beautiful addition to any garden. But skincare is where rosemary really shines.
Rosemary is filled with antioxidants that help fight free radical damage to the skin. Antioxidants help protect your skin from sun damage and help prevent skin aging.
Rosemary is anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial. It is also non-comedogenic. These properties make it great for acne prone skin. It also acts as a gentle exfoliant and helps cleanse the skin and unclog blocked pores. Rosemary tightens and tones the skin and promotes collagen production. It also stimulates blood flow to the facial skin and improves your skin tone.
Rosemary promotes hair growth...rosemary oil has been found to be as effective as minoxidil in studies. The oil of rosemary also slows graying and treats dandruff and dry scalp.
Rosemary is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and antioxidant and is helpful in treating inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and atopic dermatitis. Rosemary helps relieve redness and inflammation.
Rosemary can help you smell good. It naturally fights odors caused by bacteria on your skin as its anti-bacterial.
Rosemary oil has diuretic properties, meaning it helps drive fluid out of tissues where it’s applied. This can help with the puffy eyes (eye bags)

Arnica Benefits:
* helps relieve pain/analgesic properties
*Reduces inflammation and reduces swelling
*Helps moisturize the skin
*Slight antimicrobial properties that may assist with acne and eczema.
*anti-itch
*Helps to strengthen hair follicles and may prevent hair loss and dandruff
There are numerous beneficial compounds in arnica...linoleic acid, thymol, helenalin, palmitic acid and other ethers. The mixture of these compounds are what gives arnica its superpowers.

Chamomile and calendula together have unique healing properties to reduce inflammation from dry, chapped skin.
Chamomile has powerful skin properties like anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, antibacterial, and antiseptic. It’s also hypoallergenic and helps to reduce skin irritation and soothes dryness.
Calendula oil comes from marigold flowers. Calendula oil has antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that make it perfect for healing wounds, soothing eczema and dry skin.
Together they are a powerhouse for the skin and make for a luxurious and soothing soak.

Pumpkin seed oil is rich in zinc, vitamin E, vitamin C, antioxidants, and omega 3- and 6- fatty acids. It is very beneficial for the skin, retaining moisture, fighting free radicals and supporting aging skin. Many of the components of pumpkin seed oil have anti-aging effects, increasing firmness, moisturizing, and soothing redness.
The high amounts of zinc and vitamin E improve skin tone, help wounds heal more rapidly, fight acne and help with skin renewal.
Pumpkin seed oil can hydrate the skin but not leave an oily residue.

Andiroba is a plant that is native to the Amazon region in South America. Its bark and leaves are most often used for medicinal purposes, and its oil is a highly beneficial ingredient in cosmetic ingredients. Andiroba oil can help soothe very dry skin and alleviate rashes and skin inflammation conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis and other sores. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and help prevent premature skin aging. Andiroba contains many vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, such as:
Vitamins A, C, E
Linoleic Acid
Oleic Acid
Andiroba oil's moisturizing capabilities can help soothe extremely dry skin as well as help to alleviate painful itching and inflammation associated with many skin ailments.
Additionally, because of its ability to pe*****te deep within the skin, it can help boost skin's natural collagen production and provide UV protection, both of which can prevent premature skin aging.

Baobab oil heals dry skin: Baobab’s moisturizing properties have been documented in scientific research. "The Baobab seeds, when pressed, produce a beautiful antioxidant-rich golden oil with omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids that aid in locking in moisture even for the driest skin. Baobab oil also promotes a healthy skin barrier: Baobab contains skin friendly fatty acids such as omega 3, 6, 9 and a handful of vitamins. Due to its omega content, it's considered a great ingredient for maintaining a healthy skin barrier.

One of our best sellers is warming salve with arnica. According to research, using an arnica product twice daily for 3 weeks reduces pain and stiffness and improves function in people with osteoarthritis in the hand or knee. Other research shows that using arnica works as well as the painkiller ibuprofen in reducing pain and improving function in the hands. (WebMD). Coupled with capsaicin and turmeric, this is just the ticket for sore muscles .Please be aware that turmeric can and will stain clothing. A little goes a long way, and to reduce the risk of staining rub completely into the skin and either wipe off excess or avoid allowing clothing to touch the affected area until completely absorbed.

I posted this as a comment to the other purple dead nettle post but didn't want it to get lost....so here's the repeat!!😆

To benefit from purple dead nettle first you need to harvest it. Make sure you harvest in an area away from pollutants, pesticides, etc. Harvest the first 2-3 inches. Rinse in cool water. Don't soak. Shake off excess, drain on paper towels.

To dry the nettle leaves for later, lay them flat on a dehydrator sheet and dehydrate for 6-8 hours on low. You can also dry them in a low oven, 175 degrees or less, for 8-10 hours.

If you want to use the nettle for tea, add 3 Tablespoons dried leaves for every 8 ounces of boiling water. It's a natural diuretic and high in vitamins C, A, K, iron and fiber. Its good for kidney and urinary tract health but too much has a laxative effect. It's grassy tasting...you can add mint, chamomile, etc to make it taste less grassy.

You can also use purple dead nettle in salads, soups, smoothies...you can make a pesto out of it...you can basically use it as you would any other greens.

To make a salve you first have to make an oil infusion. Put dried pdn in a Mason jar or other glass jar. Use 2x oil to crumbled nettle. Use oil of your choice...I use sweet almond or olive usually.

To infuse quickly you can set the uncovered jar down into a saucepan containing a few inches of water. Put the pan on low heat and heat for around 2 or 3 hours. Don’t let the water evaporate out of the pan, and check on the oil while it’s heating.
Remove from the heat and strain out enough oil for what you need. Leave the rest of the oil to continue slowly infusing for next time. You can top the oil off if you want.

You can also set it aside for
4-6 weeks shaking occasionally. Pit it on a dark shelf or in a cabinet. Store strained oil in a dark cool place and shelf life should be a year+ depending on the shelf life of oil used. Alternately you can put it in a sunny window but cut the time back to 2-3 weeks...the sun will gently heat the oil but too much sun fades the herb.

Now that you have the infused oil, you can make your own salve. Put 1.65 oz infused oil into a glass container. Mix .25 oz of beeswax in and put jar in pan of water (2-3 inches)heat on low until beeswax melts. Allow to cool slightly til you can hold fingers on glass for 10 seconds then add 3-5 drops of essential oil of your choice; lavender complements nicely. Pour into a sealable tin or glass jar. If you want a balm and not a salve use more wax. 1:3 wax-to-oil ratio will create a firm balm, a 1:4 ratio will make a standard salve, and a 1:5 wax-to-oil ratio creates a soft, spreadable salve. A 1:6 ratio, which will result in an extra soft, gooey salve. 1:6 is as low as you can go as it won't stiffen at all after this.

Have fun! And if it seems like too much work...we gotcha covered🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️
