To our Amazing Family, Friends, and Customers:
After much thought and deliberation, I’ve decided not to open a tree lot this year. It’s been a great run for the past 46 years. I opened my first tree lot when I was just 17 years old right across the street from Southfield High School. This lot was open after school and on weekends. After 2 seasons, I graduated from Southfield High School and moved North to open a Party Store and Gas Station. There were a couple of years that I was not able to open a tree lot but as soon as I was able to, I opened the lot in Farmington Hills, MI. After about 13 years of having the Farmington lot I opened another location in Novi, MI.
I’d like to thank the Rhodea Family from Manistee; Ben, Seth, and Sam for Planting, Harvesting, and running the Tree Lots. The Carn Family from Novi; Tim, Steve, and Joey for being a big help for many years. A big shout out to Jason Mackie, and his Wife Jess for sharing him with me all of these years. Jason has been helping me since he was 14 years old and last year marked his 19th season with me. Whenever I called and needed help, his answer was always the same, “Yes Sir!”. Watching my son P.J. grow up in the business was very special to me. He started when he was so small that all he could do was climb up to the top of a tree pile and sit there. He was always willing to help whenever he could from loading trees before a hockey game, to working on Thanksgiving Day, to running the tree lots down state, and everything in between. To my Wife Deb, thanks for all of the crazy schedules, missed holiday dinners, making wreaths by the wood stove in the garage, and helping at the tree lots.
Thanks to the countless friends and family that donated their time when needed. Last but not least, thanks to all of the people I’ve met on the tree lots over the last few decades. I have always appreciated your business, but I will also always treasure the memories of the kindness and generosity you all have shown over the years by bringing by meals, plates of cookies, offering a place to take a hot shower, or a place to stay the night.
As they say, “All good things must come to an end”, and now is that time for Pete’s Christmas Trees. In these uncertain times, cherish your friends and family and remember what this season is all about.
Thank you and God bless,
Pete Nemish
