📸 Selfies Mean Something Different to Me

Since the rise of the selfie, they’ve sometimes gotten a bad rap—seen as attention-seeking or superficial.

For me, taking and posting a selfie became a sign of healing. There was a time when low self-esteem and the words of others shaped how I saw myself. Doing the inner work helped me begin seeing myself differently.

Today, as a trauma-informed coach, part of the work I do is supporting people as they recognize something important: you are more than the words, labels, and opinions other people have placed on you.

If you’re working on believing in yourself, start here:

1️⃣ Challenge the labels.
Ask yourself: Is this really what I believe about myself, or is this something someone else taught me to believe?

2️⃣ Speak to yourself differently.
Pay attention to your inner dialogue. Replace constant criticism with words that acknowledge your growth, strengths, and humanity.

3️⃣ Collect evidence of your growth.
Notice the things you do today that an earlier version of you struggled to do. Confidence isn’t always one big transformation. Sometimes it’s built through dozens of small moments that say, Look how far I’ve come.

And that brings me right back to selfies. 📸❤️

I feel GREAT taking them now—not because I need a picture to tell me my worth, but because I genuinely feel good about who I am.

And that is what the selfie means to me. 💕

I would have never thought that I would take my hobby and love of botanical based products to the level of where my items are now offered on Amazon. It feels good to believe in myself and do something that I thought was not an option for me. So, if you are in a place where you are pushing past your own self-imposed limitations and boundaries know that you can do anything that you put your mind to!

I underwent a "19th-century scientific study"... and these are my results. 🌿📖

After careful observation, countless handwritten notes, and what I can only assume was several cups of tea...

Findings:
• Smile: Highly contagious.
• Curiosity: Thriving.
• Resilience: Well-developed.
• Laugh lines: Evidence of a life well lived.
• Heart: Still growing.

The "researchers" concluded that this "specimen" is fueled by purpose, kindness, and a healthy dose of determination.

I'd say they got it mostly right. 😉✨
