Folks, don’t let big box stores trick you into believing they know what they are doing, talking about, and selling. A client brought a rifle in for some issues with zeroing after purchasing a rifle package deal. The scope was installed as part of the package. A trip to the range discovered that the scope rings were never torqued and they never had Loctite put on them. You can see in the pictures that the scope has shifted inside the rings. A quick turn with a torque screwdriver at 8 inch-lbs confirmed all the screws were loose. Taking it all off, starting over, and getting it installed correctly is taking place now.

A client brought his AR-15 in for a malfunctioning/failing fire control group. Inspection determined the lower receiver extension, aka buffer and buffer spring housing, was damaged which caused the lower receiver buffer detent and spring to become dislodged and jam up the fire control group. New parts on the way and it will be good as new soon!

A client brought his Smith & Wesson 916A 12 gauge in for us to fix the pump-action assembly that basically had this cool shotgun dead in the water. The action bars had broke off at the pump handle. A couple new parts and she’s ready to dust some clays again. Thanks for bringing her in!

Client’s Ta**us M444 UL/TI came in with a squib load that had the revolver locked up from the bullet being stuck between the cylinder and forcing cone…I have a remedy for that. Bullet is out and the revolver was inspected for any damage or concerns. It’s back to functioning properly and ready for another outing at the range. ***PSA*** be careful when making hand loads. Always ensure you have the correct powder charge and your bullet is seated inside the case to the proper depth.

Burning that midnight oil on the workbench with this neat Kimber 8400 Montana .300WSM. Client brought it in needing a few modernizing things done before an upcoming rifle elk hunt…we’re happy to help out, even after working a full time job all day and coming home puttting in some time here and there at night to get it done. New pic-rail on forend, new 1 piece pic-rail scope base, new scope rings, new scope, and a Kydex adjustable cheek rest. Happy with how it turned out.

You may or may not remember the Browning X-Bolt chambered in 6.8 Western we had in the shop a little bit ago but…one of the most rewarding feelings I get as a ‘smith is when I work on a clients firearm and they share their future success with me. Whether it be comp shooting, hunting, plinking, making a firearm functioning after not cycling right, restoring and breathing new life into a firearm that has seen better days, or whatever, there is no greater reward or satisfaction than working on a firearm and seeing it meet my client’s and I’s expectations. Congrats to my client and hunter on successfully filling their bighorn sheep tag while using the Browning X-Bolt 6.8 Western I worked on for you. I’m so thrilled it rose to the expectation and delivered when it was most critical! So happy for you! Please, don’t hesitate to share your success photos and stories with us, we love the feedback we get here! If you’re not quite geared up for your upcoming season, give me a chance to make your firearm perform when you need it to at that crucial moment. Good luck and be safe out there! - Lone Cone Armory

On the workbench was this project. Customer brought in this unfired, brand new C**t 1911 and wanted a new grip mainspring housing with a lanyard clip installed, the skelotonized and bobbed hammer changed out to a GI style hammer, and a larger safety installed. If you’ve spent any amount of time messing with a 1911, you know a lot of parts have to be fitted to the firearm. After hours of fitting, forming, and refinishing, I am very happy with how this came out!
