We are thrilled to introduce Michael McCarthy — studio potter, ceramics instructor, and one of the seven artists we are celebrating this month as the Hilltown 6 mark their twentieth year together! 🎉

Michael is a wheel-thrown, wood-fired potter whose functional work is made to live beautifully in your everyday space, adding to it rather than overpowering it.🏺

📍 Join us on Saturday, June 6, from 5-8 pm at Pinch for the Opening Reception of our month-long exhibition. Michael’s work will be on display, and he will be in the shop to share his story during the Artist Talks hosted by Donald Clark, starting at 6 pm.

The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public! Wine and light snacks will be served. 🍷 Plus, our owner, Jena, and the Valley’s pottery community will be in attendance! We hope to see you there!

Stay tuned — more artist features from the Hilltown 6 are coming soon! 👀

We are thrilled to welcome Mad Hesler, creator and owner of Tongass Understories, to Pinch! 👏

When she’s not guiding paddling and backpacking expeditions throughout the forests of Southeast Alaska, Mad upcycles nature field guides into unique pieces of nature-illustration jewelry! 🌿

This video truly doesn’t do these pieces justice! Come check out these treasures in person at 179 Main Street, Downtown Northampton.

Pinch and the Hilltown 6 are proud to announce a month-long collaboration in celebration of the group’s 20th anniversary! 🥳

The Hilltown 6 began as a group of nationally-recognized potters who wanted to create a coordinated studio tour showcasing the breadth of ceramic art being made in Western Massachusetts.🏺 To celebrate their milestone anniversary, we are hosting their group show in the shop from June 1-30 that features work from Michael McCarthy, Maya Machin, Hiroshi Nakayama, Mark Shapiro, Christy Knox, Robbie Heidinger, and Sam Taylor.

We’re kicking off the month-long exhibition with an Opening Reception and Artist Talks hosted by Donald Clark on Saturday, June 6th, from 5-8 pm at Pinch! The exhibition and corresponding events are free and open to the public! 🍷 Wine and light snacks will be served, offering visitors an opportunity to engage with the artists, explore the display, and celebrate the rich legacy of studio pottery in the region.

We are so excited to share Judy Jackson’s newest collection with you! Judy’s bottle vases have been a beloved part of our shop for nearly 20 years — and as she moves towards retirement, she has been experimenting with new geometric designs. How fun and colorful!!

Did you know the story behind Pinch starts at Hampshire College? Our shop would not exist today if our founders, Mara Superior and Leslie Ferrin, had not crossed paths at Hampshire College, worked with their Professor of Crafts, Roy Superior, and then created Pinch Pottery after graduating!

How many organizations started because of Hampshire? How many businesses? How many careers? Relationships? We are so sad it’s closing. We love you, Hampshire!! 🫶

Hey y’all! I’m sharing that I’ve been in the incredibly rewarding 10KSB Program (10,000 Small Businesses) for the last few months. I’m in the final week of programming in person in NYC🗽and graduate Thursday! It’s been challenging and inspiring and an honor to get to know and learn from all my small business owner peers, and all in the service of sustaining and growing Pinch 🫶
