Meet Northampton’s Special Occasion Trifecta ✨

A florist, a specialty bakery, and a gift shop collaborating in the sweetest way possible: celebrating the summer solstice with a dreamy picnic at Look Park!

On the menu: Pie Bar’s strawberry rhubarb pie, Kestrel’s beautiful serveware, and Mal du Pays’ lush, garden-inspired flowers🥂🍓

Our three businesses have grown alongside one another here in Northampton, connected by sisters, friends, and a shared love of celebrating life’s sweetest moments. Emily is the florist behind Mal du Pays and the manager of Kestrel, while her sister Katie is the assistant head baker at Pie Bar. This decadent picnic was our excuse to bring our worlds together, and to dream up a little inspiration for the season ahead.

Pie Bar is currently serving strawberry rhubarb pie and other treats made with fresh, seasonal, and local ingredients. You can find Mal du Pays flowers at Pie Bar while enjoying a slice, then stop by Kestrel for strawberry birthday candles, the perfect serving platter, a card, or one of Emily’s gorgeous bouquets.

Cake From Lucie 🍰💕

Lucie Franc de Ferriere is the owner and head baker at From Lucie, a small bakery in the East Village known for its whimsical baked goods adorned with fresh flowers. Born and raised in Southern France, Lucie grew up baking cakes with her mother at the family’s farm and bed-and-breakfast in their 165-year-old chateau, and after moving to New York City, she became homesick and turned to baking for a taste of home. Eventually, Lucie’s baked goods became so popular at café pop-ups that she decided to take a leap of faith and open her own bakery.

Now in Cake From Lucie, Lucie invites home bakers to join her in creating gorgeously imperfect treats in her signature style, from easy everyday recipes to more intricate showstoppers. Lucie’s creations are less sweet than American-style baked goods, allowing her subtle and unique flavor combinations to shine. Indulge in a moist Zucchini Honey Mascarpone Cake that highlights the tastes of summer, or a layered Chamomile Cake with Whipped Cream and Strawberry Sumac Jam that beautifully melds citrus and herbal notes.

In celebration of spring and Mother’s Day weekend, please join us for a flower-filled evening with Ariella Chezar, Master Floral Designer and author. Based in the Berkshires, Ariella is a recognized leader in the “farm-to-flower” movement, creating awe-inspiring arrangements that connect onlookers with the natural world. She has designed flower arrangements for The Obama White House, and her work has graced the cover of Martha Stewart Living.

Ariella is a highly sought after teacher and lecturer, and we are honored to host her for a very special Northampton Arts Night Out! Using seasonal flowers from local farms, Ariella will demonstrate her process of creating a thoughtful, unbridled composition while sharing invaluable design wisdom shaped by thirty plus years in the field.

Ticket price includes a copy of Home in Bloom and reserves a seat (space is limited!) for this special demonstration. Bring your mom, a friend, or a woman you admire, and linger for light refreshments and optional book signing. Assemble a posy to take home from a pop-up flower bar and grab a last minute gift for mom. Please note this will be held at 263 Main Street (former ODE storefront), not at Kestrel’s brick and mortar storefront, in order to comfortably accommodate guests. We hope to see you there!🌸
