Beehive Sewing is a DIY textile makerspace that offers access to sewing machines, tools, and equipment on an hourly basis. We sell organic and vintage fabrics, supplies, and notions. Please note we do not do alterations or sewing for hire!

When I cooked up the idea for the “Hello... my name js” masks I made a bunch of samples to figure out a wearable and efficient-to-sew design. Back in April elastic was in short supply, so I started making ties/cord from organic jersey knit that we used to sell in the studio. It’s definitely the most labor-intensive element, but consistently is mentioned by customers as the reason our mask is their most comfortable. Can’t stop now! And yes, the serger is really this loud....

So thrilled for my friend to bring this project into the world!
When he asked if I could sew up tiny little masks for some lemons (the first fruit he photographed), I had no idea it would turn into this whimsical and hilarious series of postcards.

Had 2 last panels of my custom mask fabric and decided to send a little something to the campaign. Pretty sure he and won’t ever actually see or wear them, but campaign staff might get a kick out of them :)
And, YES, I will be printing another run, including a red version!) for personalized, comfortable, hand-made jersey tie versions plus a blank print-on-demand version, too!

I realize there are like 3 people in my life who will appreciate this, but man, this machine was in TOP FORM when I sat down to service it - Get in good habits, people, and you won’t regret it!
**PS this is one of my machines - I don’t offer machine servicing/repair as a business, but Newman Sewing in West Springfield does!!! Google them for hours/phone/etc.
