Are you seeing damage from the cold 🧣🧤snap?

We are too….

Don’t worry…..plants that are tropical or plants 🪴 in pots are showing signs of distress.

Almost everything should start coming back as the temperatures 🌡️go back to normal. 🌞

Make sure you are giving your plants a little extra water 🚿 during this time.

If you are really worried you can cut a branch an see if it is green 💚 inside. If it is green it’s still very much alive, If it is brown it might be dead.

Even though it’s a little early you plants may also be ready for some Fertilizer to help them come back to life as well! Just make sure it’s been at least 30 days since your last feed 🍽️ an you apply the proper amount.

Come 👀 us if you have any further questions

Couple more nights of chilly weather is in our future 🥶

If you have plants that are sensitive you may want to cover them with frost cloth 🪴 or move them inside if you can

Just remember to cover before bed an uncover first thing in the morning

Don’t want to mess with frost cloth? You can water the soil to help keep it warm, you can mound mulch around the trunk of the plant for the next couple days just make sure to remove the mulch from the trunk when the extra cool weather has passed

Have any questions give us a call:

I’m sure you have heard about the impending C O L D ☃️❄️☃️ front coming to SWFL in the next ten days

If temperatures go below 45* for more than a few hours some plants may show cold damage. If you have cold sensitive plants make sure you cover them, add extra mulch around the base, or bring them inside if able.

Any plants newly planted in the past 30 days may be more susceptible to cold damage as well

Here is a list of some plants that may be more cold sensitive:
*crotons
*heliconias
* gingers
* some dracaenas
* some 🌺 hibiscus
* banana 🍌 plants
* shooting star 💫
* kings 🤴 mantle
* crossandras
* blue daze
* petunias
*vincas
* herbs
* orange Geiger
* dwarf musseanda
* allamanda
* durantas
* yellow elder
* sky vine
* sunset 🌅 vines
* desert roses
* roses 🌹
* Asian snow
* dwarf firebush
* oysters
* Bougainvilleas
* alternathea
* peace Lilly’s
* hanging baskets

It’s not a complete list……
If your unsure please research and make sure your plant babies will be ok

We have Frost cloth available for sale. Make sure you wet down your plant before covering it up at bed time and make sure to remove the covering first thing in the morning. We may need to do this for a couple nights in a row unfortunately

 If you have any questions or concerns please give us a call (239) 599-4071

OUR BEGINNINGS

Jan and Joe walked into Bayshore Garden Center in 2000 to buy a Cape Honeysuckle plant that we saw from the road. The Business was for sale and before we knew it we had bought the business and property at 5870 Bayshore Road North Fort Myers. It was the start of ten years of working toward the best Garden Center we could create. We slowly built the company’s reputation and client list, adding new services along the way.

In 2011 we had to sell the company and we leased the new owners the property. In 2015 the business was sold again and we continued leasing the property to the new owners. In March of 2016 the new owners of Bayshore Garden Center decided they would move out. My wife Jan and I talked about what we should do and decided to move back into the property and continue to operate the same friendly local garden center that has been continuosly in operation at this location for around 40 years. We both had to much of our lives in the building of it to just let it sit idle, so we opened up under a new name Scott’s Landscape Nursery and we have been welcomed back by old and new friends with open arms. Thanks to all of you who have become our friends.

It’s good to be back and we intend to move forward in the new Scott’s Landscape Nursery with the same commitment to that friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable service that was the standard at the Bayshore Garden Center for all those years in the past.
