I don’t post things like this. Like never, but I know this customer personally. She has been in our shop numerous times, and both my team and I have taken the time to answer her questions, explain products, and help her the best we could.
The situation that led to this review involved a v**e that began leaking after being left inside a vehicle for a couple of days during the Florida summer heat. Unfortunately, extreme temperatures can affect these products, which is why we advise customers not to leave them in hot vehicles.
Had the product been defective when purchased or failed under normal circumstances, we would have taken care of it. We stand behind what we sell. But there also has to be a reasonable line between a product defect and damage or malfunction caused by circumstances outside of our control.
What hurts isn’t receiving criticism. Criticism helps businesses grow. What hurts is seeing years of hard work and a team’s reputation reduced to a one-star review because we couldn’t provide the resolution someone wanted.
I just finished working four doubles in a row. Like so many small business owners, there are days I’m exhausted, stressed and stretched thin. Sometimes my face might show it. Sometimes my delivery might not be perfect. I’m human, and so is my team.
But one thing I will never accept is the idea that we don’t care.
I have poured my heart, time and countless hours into this business. We aren’t perfect, but we show up every day and genuinely try to do right by the people who walk through our doors.
This isn’t a post asking anyone to attack this person or choose sides. Please don’t. It’s simply a reminder that there are real people behind small businesses. Reviews matter. Words matter. And while businesses absolutely deserve to be held accountable when they’re wrong, I believe that accountability should go both ways.
To my fellow small business owners: Have you ever received a review that you felt didn’t tell the whole story? How did you handle it?
Drop your experience below. I’d genuinely like to hear it.
Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep doing the right thing.
Love, respect & peace.
