North Conways oldest continually operating retail store will celebrate its 75th anniversary in May 2014.The North Conway 5 and 10 has been a landmark in the village since Sidney Sweeney and his wife,Lillian,opened the business in May 1939.They sold a little bit of everything,both practical and impractical.A wander around the store today shows that ,unlike most of North Conway, not very much has ch

anged since then.The building still has its original tin ceiling and creaking maple floors.Children still come in for penny candy and treasures which can be theirs for a handful of coins.Their parents reminisce about when they were children and did exactely the same thing.Today it is still a classic example of a 1940s dime store.Another era is reflected in the antique wooden counters with their glass seperators and choice of traditional merchandise.

One of our own...

Tim Johnson our fudge maker took a nice vacation to Las Vegas with his wife .... 2 days after arrival he was rushed to the emergency room and had to have life saving surgery for a perforated bowel. Now 10 days later he's dealing with blood clots on both sides of his chest.

Terri, his wife and a 32 year employee of the store is staying out there right beside him. Right now she's hotel hopping because weekends the hotels are booked... not to mention food, cabs, Uber and lyfts money is getting very tight.

Sami another one of our faithful employees is their daughter and has set up a go fund me to help with expenses... anything you can afford would be greatly appreciated!

It was finally time for Terri my (Mom) and Tim my (Dad) to go on their week long vaca… Samantha Johnson needs your support for Emergency surgery in Vegas!
