Happy Saturday, you earthen vessels of God's love, you! How did you fare last night? Did you weather the storm? While I am thankful for the rain(as is my lawn), I could do without all the flashing lights and rattling windows. My poor doggo is a shivering, drooling, whining mess when a storm comes up.
Today I want to talk about gardens. I'm curious about everyone's experiences over the years. The sentiment in this decorative plaque is spot on, I think. Gardens are a hopeful investment in a future reward. Kind of like storing up treasure in heaven. The seeds are planted and we diligently care for them by watering them until they sprout, dreaming about all the good homegrown food we'll have and all the money we'll save at the grocery store...and then life happens.
We may have even gotten so far as to make those first harvests and even enjoyed that 1st tomato sandwich(Duke's Mayo ONLY and a little s&p). You've cared for your garden to the letter, watering it and weeding it and fertilizing it.
And one day, you come out and horn worms have showed up and stripped every single leaf off your tomato plants or deer have done the same to your peppers...or slugs have attacked your cabbage...or rabbits have...and the list goes on. All that hope you had in the beginning becomes tempered by reality.
That moment is not the time to give up. That garden bears good fruit, otherwise every other critter in the neighborhood wouldn't be after it. Likewise, the enemy comes at you hardest when you are bearing good fruit(IYKYK).
That is my little no-Bible Bible study for today. If you love your garden or have a gardener in your life, come see us! We have lots of garden decor to affirm that love.
We'll see y'all down to the store!
