It’s finally getting toasty out there! We spend as much of the warm weather near a body of water and luckily, living in North Adams, there’s many to choose from!
☀️ Windsor Lake is an easy yes when my kids want to go somewhere. There’s 2 playgrounds, a roped off swimming area, enough room for non-motorized boats, and a frisbee golf course. The only downside is there’s no shade near the water. $5 day pass/$20 season pass, no lifeguards.
🌳 You’ll find me at Margaret Lindley almost every warm weekday morning. You’re forced to disconnect with no cell service available. The pros: shade, well maintained, bathrooms are open Wednesday-Sunday and porta potties are available 24/7. The cons: none, not even the carry in, carry out policy. Clean up after yourselves. Free parking, no lifeguards.
🛶 North Pond is a dad favorite and I tag along on a warm day because it’s always cooler up the mountain. The swimming is nice, there’s hiking trails, and a picnic just hits different there. Parking fees may apply, grab a DCR pass from any library to park for free. No lifeguards.
🦉 Grafton State Park is worth the drive over to New York. Theres a great welcome center, playground and hiking trails. The beach area is AMAZING. Pack a picnic and spend the day. Parking is $8.
